Keep in mind that Copenhagen is a departure point for cruises and the Marriott is popular with cruise passengers.

Another enthusiastic vote for Soljet's recommendation: how about www.ibsenshotel.dk The neighbourhood is charming. After staying there a few years ago, my wife still has it on her "top ten list worldwide". Easy walk to Norreport Station and on to city center and the Stog(y)et. Fun local cafe, "Klimt" nearby. A nice day trip that we enjoyed is Norreport Station train to Hillerod and the Fredriksborg Castle, then on to Hummelbaek and "Louisiana" mod art museum with gorgeous grounds. (You can tuck in Helsingor/Elsinore also). Train rides are short and inexpensive. stu tower |
that's "Strog(y)et" the pedestrian street.

Actually, it isn't pronounced that way at all. It is pronounced much like "stroll". |
tower: We looked up the Ibsen Hotel a while back and it was over our price limit; I can't remember how pricey it was. Perhaps, if we used a website, it might be cheaper; I don't know. We have been debating the pros and cons of Copenhagen a bit and the cons appear to be winning right now! We may just concentrate our trip in Germany. There are quite a few places we have not been and certainly quite a few places worth repeating. However, we have not bought our Eurail pass and once we do, we will have made our decision and be committed.
Mari5: We like the BW chain, too, since as you said it is so easy to make reservations. We just returned from a trip to San Francisco (we live in Southern California) and stayed at one in Pismo Beach and another in Paso Robles, both midway points for us. The prices were reasonable and it was comfortable for one night. As you no doubt know, the Best Westerns are individually owned, however I suppose there is some minimum standard that they must adhere to. That minimum standard is pretty good. |
Travel Gourmet..thanks for the heads up..I had always pronounced it "stroyet" and that's why I parenthesize the "y"
Since you live there, I'll follow yours from now on. Besides, yourvaluable Quincy experience puts you in a favored class anyway!! stu |

<<I had always pronounced it "stroyet" and that's why I parenthesize the "y">> This is more accurate than saying it is pronounced more like stroll. The et is definitely pronounced
