Caroline, I confess I haven't been to the Central Bar in years, so my recommendation was based on the assumption that its pre-renovation condition, grand but rough, was the main thing that had changed. But perhaps you're suggesting the clientèle has changed too? Wouldn't surprise me; the regulars when I went there needed some renovations of their own.

Caroline, nuff said, indeed--Thanks for the correction. I was there several years ago with two friends (one was our own dear Sheila). It was scruffy and crowded, but the whiskey was good and there was a jam session going on with local instruments.
