Quirky but luxe Amsterdam ?

As the 'resident expert on Jamaica' on the Caribbean board, I'd appreciate some pointers from Amsterdam experts. Two rather quirky friends, mid 40s couple, want to visit for first time during the Cannabis Cup, 21-28 November (don't ask...) for 10-14 days. Aside from the usual cafe hopping, recommendations other than Canal House or
Ambassade for quirky-luxe traditional Dutch style -- but not US/Euro hotel chain nor minimalist chic style accomodations would be appreciated.

We liked the Hotel Estherea.

Do the airlines make you buy an extra seat for your ego?

I've booked and cancelled Hotel 717 so many times it's not funny. I will definitely get there. It is very pricey but it is luxe and gets great reviews:

Seriously, I know a great and very off-beat but centrally located place, on a canal, etc., BUT I need to know just what "quriky" REALLY means before I tell you about it!

Thanks for your well-considered advice. We found them
a private house to rent for two weeks.
