hi, y'all,

I rather feel that I am taking my life in my hands contributing to this thread, but here goes:

if the OP feels that the service she has received is particularly good, she could leave a tip!!! or some flowers or a box of chocs - the thought is always well received and if they aren't a sort the LL likes, she can give them to a raffle.

the recipe sounds like a pretty vile version of tortilla chips as described by another OP, but perhaps it doesn't travel, a bit like warm beer, deep-fried mars bars, or many of the other culinary disasters/masterpieces that we Brits have inflicted upon an unsuspecting world.

no lasting harm could be done by the OP leaving a copy of the recipe in her room upon departure, but she shouldn't be too disappointed if she doesn't receive a christmas card from her hostess.

and julie's post was priceless.

regards, ann

ps didn't churchill say something about two nations divided by a single language?

"Atletx: the majority of these people replying just plain don't know what they are talking about. They aren't TEXANS, for the most part."

No, I'm not from Texas. That isn't the issue. it's the fact that it's not exactly appropriate to start preparing snacks for your hosts at a b&b. THAT'S the issue.

i agree that it's not the norm, however, nobody's getting hurt. what a boring place the world would be if we always stuck to a narrow formula of 'appropriate'. people should just be themselves when they travel.
