Prague and Italy possible??
We are planning a trip next year, and would like to see Southern Italy (Almalfi, Capri etc.) for about 10 days. Since we are already in Europe, I would love to visit Prague for 4-5 days. Is this a good idea, taking into consideration the travel time, costs and time we have? Also, would 4-5 days in Prague be good enough? Thanks.

Not good by rail. The best I can find in the Thomas Cook European Timetable is Prague Hlavni (beware pickpockets) 0730, Regensburg1238 to 1244, buffet car train, Munich 1320 to 2031, Capri Express with 1, 2 and 3 berh sleepers, 6 berth couchettes, and a buffet car, Naples 1050. Or Prague Hlavni 2145, sleepers, Munich 0636 to 0930, restaurant car train, Rome 2002 to 2027, buffet car train, Naples 2224. Or take the two night trains, with a day in Munich between them.

Ben Haines, Londom
I guess you could. But why skip over all that wonderful territory in Austria?

Best wishes,

Rex
Take sleeper night train Naples-Venice
-stroll Venice for a day
Take sleeper night train Venice-Vienna
-stagger around Vienna for a day
-onward to Prague for 2 day visit
-fly home from Prague

If that is what you want to see then by all means do it. I personally would find a flight from naples to Prague instead of spending the time on trains. 4-5 days is plenty in Prague.
