hidden things stay hidden by not being talked about ;-)

do you have the rough guide for the country?

What means of transportation do you plan to use?

"Must see" depends on your interests, and even if you have exceptionally limited interests, I don't see how you could possibly see all of the "must see" sights of Portugal in a week. My adivce: Get a guidebook and research your options. The Rough Guide (mentioned upthread by bilboburgler) would be a good choice; the Michelin Green is outstanding.

Good luck!

I agree with everything kja said. Rough Guide and the Michelin Green Guide are outstanding. I used to prefer Lonely Planet, but I don't care for their new format.

Where to go in Portugal depends on your interests. A week is not a lot of time. My first suggestion would be Lisbon and perhaps Porto for a week's stay. Or you could spend a week in Lisbon and take some daytrips such as to Cascais and Sintra. Or spend 5 nights in Lisbon and 2 nights in Sintra. All depend on your interests.
