ponte vecchio area question

is this a good/okay area to stay in florence? what are pluses/minuses?

Plus, it's very central.
Minus, it seemed to me to be one of the most crowded areas in Florence. But that's only right at the bridge. A couple blocks away is no problem.

It's the very heart of Florence. And as taxis aren't easy to get hold of, a convenient location is REALLY useful in Florence. You have easy walking access to all the main areas, including Oltrarno over the river if you want to escape the crowds and find a less touristy restaurant.

In all my visits, only once have I satyed in this area and I loved the convenience. Crowds/noise don't bother me, being a London resident. I say go for it.

I'd be interested to know which hotel you're considering?

kate-we booked a room at the vivahotel
pitti palace for 4 nts for 596 euro
including breakfast/taxes. it got
good reviews on tripadvisor, and
we will enjoy being in the thick of
things (I love your home town London!)

Hi Daisy,

We stayed right by the Ponte Vecchio (at the Hermitage) and thought it was a great place to stay. Easy to walk to everything and enjoyed being able to photograph the Arno and the bridge from different times of day.

Hi daisy, I have stayed just a couple blocks down from Ponte Vecchio and loved it. Think you will also. Florence is a great city for walking. Have a beautiful time.
