I just read all of the posts (since there was such activity) - and was surprised to get to the part where you ended up choosing the apartment we just stayed at in October (10 nights). How funny. Like your husband, once I saw the pics - I kept going back to it. Gerard Mulot was great for desserts for after dinner. For grocery stores, I liked the St, Germain Monoprix (one street over from Rue Bonaparte) best (food in basement.) - this is not the Monoprix cecile recommends in the apartment book - which is the one on St. Michel) The Carrefour grocery store on Rue de Seine was not the best experience - long lines and slow check out clerks - I felt like I was in a sitcom every time I went there. We routinely didn't leave the Lux. apartment until noon or 1 - we kicked back a lot this trip - since it was our third trip to Paris.

I think that you will be very pleased renting from Cecile. She and her mother are both delightful and very particular about their apartments. We have rented from her before upon the recommendation of friends who have rented from her 3 times in recent years.

Bonjour! We're back! I wanted to write and let you all know how the apartment was.

We loved the apartment!! We stayed in Cecile's 1 bedroom apartment in St. Germain near Luxembourg gardens. It was beautifully furnished and quiet with a very comfortable king size bed. The perfect place to come back to after a busy and exhausting day of touring. We were a little scared of the amount of stairs, but they were much easier to climb than stairs here... lower rise?

We found the location to be perfect for us, but did discuss whether we'd want to try le marais next time. Yes... we are already discussing next time. I also must mention that the renting and checking in process from Cecile was extremely easy.

As most of you know, Cecile's apartment was over our budget a little bit but we don't regret one cent of it. In our eyes, it was worth it.

I noticed your review of Cecile's apartment somewhere mentioning the wine opener you left behind. I wanted to let you know that we put it to good use. Thank you.

Gerard Mulot was closed during our time there, but we discovered Pierre Herme off of Rue St. Sulpice for croissants and macarons! We experienced the same slow lines at the Carrefour when we stopped in for a couple of bottled waters one night. The only Monoprix we went to was the one on St. Michel. Even though it was fine, I'll have to remember your advice for next time.

Good choice,beautiful apartment. I was wondering , how was the noise level? Was it noisy at night?

I am also looking for a nice but not terrible expensice apartment for 4 days.

My preferred ARRS. are the 1st,5th and 6th.I dont mind to pay up to 550 Euros for 4 days.I need an elevator.I travel with my daughter.
I would appreciate any informations about various apartments.. I like the Dauphine also but I wonder if Terry has something else with an elevator.

It wasn't at all noisy at night. Due to the weather, we kept the windows closed except when taking photos.
Actually, there was a night when I woke up at 1am (long story) and laid in bed trying to get back to sleep. It was as quiet as my suburban chicago home.

Ceciles apartments are over your 550 euro budget. we started at the 500-600 euro range too, but after my husband saw her website, he was sold and doubled our budget. I really loved that when walking back to the apartment at the end of the day, we would look forward to getting back there to make dinner and just lounge. I was concerned with renting a place I wouldn't be comfortable in.

I'm so glad you liked the apartment. Oh, that bed WAS so comfortable. I remember thinking I must get a new mattress set once I get back home -- which I have yet to do -- since it was just heavenly. I didn't leave the wine opener - I think that was another reviewer - but I did leave the coffee scoop. We walked into Pierre Herme - but never got anything - must go back! I think you are right - those steps must be of lower rise. I had no trouble going down - and just a little bit of extra effort for that last flight of steps on the way up.

Our other trips to Paris, we stayed in the Marais - and we really like that area too. Hipper vibe. We went back this trip to a repeat cafe at a great location that everyone walks by: L'Etoile Manquante 34 Rue Vieielle du Temple. This is very near an apartment we stayed in in 2006 on that same street. I would suggest giving the Marais a try next time -since you are interested in that area.

It's been over 3 weeks since we came back from Paris and I cannot stop thinking about it. I'm sure we will be planning our next trip before we know it. Thank you for your advice on le Marais. I honestly don't know if I can stay across town from Pierre Herme :) I can't wait!
