Please help me navigate this site so I can find restaurants in Venice
Hi. I have just returned to this site after a short break, and need help using the search engine. I did a simple search for Venice restaurants, and came up with zero hits. Can anyone offer advice as to how I search more sucessfully? We will be in Venice over Easter and need to make restaurant reservations. Thanks in advance for your help.

Try Da Fiore, Expensive but the best meal I ever ate in Venice.

Try going to:

http://www.google.com and
http://www.dogpile.com

Type in "Venice Restaurants" or "Venice Trattorie" - no quotation marks.....

I'm sure you'll get zillions of hits.

top - - there are lots of posts about Venice restaurants now
Mally: Go to the top today. There is a thread that deals with some of the finest restauants in Venice. Something like "Wonderful Restaurants in Venice". As to navigating the site, it appears that you did what StCirq is suggesting and it didn't work. Did you look at "Search Tips" up top?

Good evening, tried to send you two
lists of Venice ristorantes, but return
as server being down. Do you have a
correct e mail address to which these
can be sent.
Richard of LaGrange Park, Il...

I am quite clueless as to why the initial response was from "DearRex", but it was not from me. It could have been directed at me, or "left over" from a cookie - - (i.e., from a post on another thread, directed at me).

In any event, it appears that there was an effort to bring various old message threads "to the top" for you last night, but that method of "finding things" - - and putting them "within reach of people seeking them is not so great, in my opinion.

A better way is to give you the names and URL's for these "topped" threads. You can reach any of them by just clicking below:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/messages.cfm?fid=2&tid=101417&numresponses =20

for "Looking for a wonderful restaurant experience in Venice"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/messages.cfm?fid=2&tid=50627&numresponses= 5

for "VENICE-RESTAURANTS?"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/messages.cfm?fid=2&tid=1274655&numresponse s=7

for "Venice restaurants recommendations"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/messages.cfm?fid=2&tid=21022&numresponses= 6

for "Da Fiore, Venice, Italy"

http://www.fodors.com/forums/messages.cfm?fid=2&tid=106733&numresponses =13

for "VENICE RESTUARANTS"

and

http://www.fodors.com/forums/messages.cfm?fid=2&tid=107782&numresponses =19

for "Most romantic meal in Venice?"

I hope these are useful to you.

Best wishes,

Rex

DaIvo in Venice is fabulous!!!
|
The "Caravella", the Hotel Saturnia&International restaurant, is fabulous, and also the rooftop of the Danieli. Honestly, I didn't like the food in the Antico Martini.

just trying some of those navigational 'right click - open new link in window' moves.

topping for Vickie - - not that the URL's listed no longer work (as of this date) - - this was posted during the "new format" that existed for a glorious short period in early April.
Just passing along a lovely newsletter I subscribe to that someone from Fodor's suggested many moons ago:
http://www.veniceword.com
It gives recommendations for restaurants and hotels. It also will give you the scoop on opera and theatre.
It is sent to you on a weekly basis.
Enjoy!
Gloria

You can check the Rant and Raves section of Fodor's Travel Talk. You will find quite a lot of recommendations on Venice restaurants.

I previously posted six useful threads with their URL's from the "new format" which had a short lifespan in the spring of this year.

Here's how those same threads would be located now:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...messagesframe&

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...messagesframe&

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...messagesframe&

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...messagesframe&

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...messagesframe&

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...messagesframe&

Topping this, since I am citing it for "Joe" (Miele).
The software that runs this site keeps changing, so this list needed to be re-formatted again, to be useful.

Topping for "Robert" (lias49)

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=101417

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=50627

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1274655

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=21022

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=106733

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=107782
Thanks Rex, not really sure what you mean by 'to the top' - I have read all the messages above and even tried to use some of the links (to no avail.)

Am thinking of taking my girlfriend to Osteria da Fiore and the Danieli as they seem to be regular recommendations. Which do you think would be best for Valentines Eve?

With thanks again,

Colin
