Chickens, hens...hmmmm...since I'm a male Francophile who loves red wine, guess I'll be a Coq au Vin. :)
|
or old boiler
|
or chook for those of us who are Australian
|
we were supposed to introduce ourselves??? AND come up with a catchy little nickname??? great....i bet i've been ostracized already.....
|
Interesting. My first new word of the new year...thanks. I've never heard of chook before.
World Wide Words: Chook http://www.quinion.com/words/qa/qa-cho2.htm |
Laura, don't you mean ostrichacized? :)
|
I have seen old laying hens sold as 'stewing chickens'.
Would that fit? |
Where the heck is Flobbin Your Knob, Indiana? And why does Fodor's continue to allow Rex to troll for paying travel companions and use their brand name on his trips? Ah, questions for the ages. ;)
|
mighty flighty, some will be too chicken to tell who they really are and may use another name. Some will make you cluck. A few guys come on like roosters and some jokesters lay an egg.
A troll will hatch a tale, but we all love travelling out of our nests. |
Capo, I do think most of the contributors on this board have been stewed at one time or another.
|
thanks capo! now, without further ado, let me introduce myself....i am a spring ostrich from ohio. glad to be here. but even more glad to be in london next week.
|
Probably true, Marilyn, probably true.
When we Coq au Vins can't stand the heat in the kitchen anymore, one of our favorite places to go on vacation is a Stewed Ranch. |
Mightyflighty,
I'm new around here and I too, was caught up in wondering if I should make a formal introduction or just jump into the pan. I opted for the latter and just tried to slip in unobtrusivly. Although I've only been to Europe 5 times, I love to travel. I still shake my head at how silly I was when my friend first ask me to go to Spain. I'm also a native of California and I said, "I already live in paradise. Why do I need to go anywhere?" I'm so glad she convinced me to get on that plane! This has been a wonderful board for me. It seems that everytime I have a question it has been answered by these generous people before I've even had a chance to ask. |
BTW I'm a married female and old enough to think, "Stones", when I read the heading of your post.
|
Yes, the Stones are my all time favorites.
The chick reference sure got everyone's feathers fluffed up didn't it? Anyway, my next trip should be Spain I would love to visit there and put the finishing touches on my flamenco dancing moves. I love the music and everything I have read about Spain except the Bullfighting. I would like to start a movement for equal fighting opportunity for the bull and would root for the bull if I ever went to a fight which I wouldn't. So far I have been to the usual places, Italy, France and England with a detour to the Netherlands to stay on a working farm and learned how to milk a sheep. Oh yes, I went to Scotland and was taught the highland fling by a local, but I had thought it was a dance! You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime you just might find you get what you need... |
The fact that you came back for more after the reaction to your initial post is proof to me that you will fit in just fine here, mightyflighty. This forum is truly the most valuable travel resource I have ever found, and often immensely entertaining as well.
So welcome, and I hope it will give you satisfaction! |
Thanks Marilyn, I thought they were pretty funny except for the black cat, but maybe she has a reason to hiss.
Capo, your coq au vin was very clever, are you the capitano on this site? I have spent this evening reading old postings and, boy, do you all get around! I have learned alot and really can't believe how helpful you are to each other and some of the trip reports are so detailed and others so funny. I have taken alot of notes, so I will feather my nest and wait for the cock to crow at dawn for another day. Bye. |
The title of this post reminds me f the Austin Powers movie when he says "Please allow myself to introduce myself" :-d
|
Capo is the Punmeister on this site, although he has many challengers.
|
Pretty clever people here, I'd say.
I also want to check out the South/West Coast of France, Lourdes, the heel of the boot of Italy and the Orkneys, so I'll be back. |
