amaclise, I do here exactly the same thing I do for my friends. Give some tips, some advice, some help on the Internet..but I don't organize their time, don't decide which places they have to visit or not, don't choose their hotels...

K - That's not what the OP said her friend asked for. She asked for "help planning".

kenderina Jun 14th, 2006 06:42 PM

Yes, but you said we all do that here for strangers..I was saying I don't :)

The reason I said very quickly that I wouldn't do this?

>>> We travel, well, differently than them<<<

It's hard enough to plan to keep family, friends, and loved ones happy. They travel completely differently from her family.

Dangerous to me. Slippery slope. No good deed goes unpunished. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Even the trips we plan ourselves go off track as we all know.

Trip planning is like being a professional organizer.
FIRST YOU LAY THE GROUND RULES,then make the outline(suggestions as to location, schedule, details, travel books)Then
assign homemwork and above all do not do the gruntwork youself or you will not be appreciated or worse be blamed for mishaps.
Also its about educating them for realistic expectations.
One city for one week shouldn't be that bad.Id do it depending how close you are but I'd be sure to explain that at this late date shes going to pay more and Id mke her keep a notebook..
