I agree with Steve that the best whites I have found are from the Alto Adige region. However, I do like the Vernaccia di San Gimignano better than the Orvieto Classico.

Best Pinot grigio in the world IMO, is Santa Margerita pinot. When I was in SML we could get for 6.99 Euros...should have bought a case,,,here in the US it around 20$!

Does anyone sell a book titled "Wine For Dummies'? Wine choices to me are mind boggling. However, when I have had wine I find I prefer sweet over dry. Any suggestions?
