Phone # for Uffizi Reservations

OK, I went on the website and did a search on fodors. I found a lot of references, but no phone numbers.
Does anyone have the phone number to make a reservation??
Really dumb question--are either the Uffizi or Accademia air conditioned?
How long to allow for both (can we do one in the am and one in the afternoon? If so which one when?
THANKS!!

regarding the a/c....some rooms in the uffizi are air conditioned but not many. Yes, you can make a reservation for the uffizi in the morning and then the accademia for the afternoon.

jeez....sorry....i should have tried to answer your questions in one post!
To clarify what I wrote above....you can do either of the museums whevever you want....uffizi in morning or accademia in morning and then the other in the afternoon, whatever you prefer. The telephone number is the same for both museums.

I would suggest that you do the Uffizi in the morning while you're still "bright eyed and bushy tailed" (no, this has no sexual connotation; it's a quote from a very famous play from the 1950s, which I expect very few people will recognize) and do it for as long as your energy and, above all, your ability to absorb what you are seeing hold out. (But do try to hit the high spots, which will depend, of course, on your own taste. Many people are drawn to the Botticellis.)

Then have a long, leisurely lunch; preferably in a restaurant with air conditioning. Book the Accademia for late-ish afternoon (depending on how long you want to spend on lunch); there isn't that much of particular interest to see and you can probably get through it in a half-hour or less if you only want to see Michelangelo's newly restored David.

does anyone know if you are able to make reservations online?

i_am_kane Aug 3rd, 2004 05:59 PM

Eloise - Apparntly there are still some of us around who still use that expression.

Jck4: Yes, you can make reservations on line, but through agencies that charge an extra fee.

I am Kane (as in Citizen?): I'm glad I'm not alone in remembering it. But what a shame that Osborne only went downhill from there, turning gradually from an Angry Young Man into an embittered old one...

jck4,

I used Weekend A Firenze to purchase tix for Uffizi several years ago. May be other sites who offer this service.
