I was unable to find anything for Les Antiques though, is it still around? Seems that everything else that is recommended is a little too high for our budget - should we reconsider staying in Arles instead? How different are they in size? Thanks for your help! |
I'm not PB, but I was also looking for less expensive properties in St-Remy. Ended up in Arles (at Le Calendal) and was happy with my choice.
You may have already found this, but Les Antiques is still listed in Frommers (so is presumably still in business): http://www.frommers.com/destinations...cfm?h_id=34378 Mas des Carassins gets great feedback on tripadvisor.com Another option nearby that I've read great things about here is the Presbytere St Thomas http://www.avignon-et-provence.com/b.../gb/index.html |
Stayed at mas des carassins in september. great place. good location.

I've been obsessed with researching lodging options in St. Remy. I've not been looking at more expensive options, but but I have a great list of places I've contacted and researched on the web. We've concentrated on places with pools since we are going with our teenagers.
Rick Steves groups stay there and their trip reports have good things to say. Hôtel Villa Glanum 46 Avenue Van Gogh 13210 Saint Rémy de Provence Tel : +33 490 92 03 59 Fax: +33 490 92 00 08 pool, annex rooms by pool are recommended charming gardens about 800 meters out of the centre ville (15 minute walk) http://www.villaglanum.com/rates.htm (their web server is SLOW - give pictures time to load) Several guidebooks recommend this one. But, they are undergoing a change in ownership and I don't know about the new rates Hotel Villa Verte Place de la République 13210 Saint-Rémy-de-Provence right in town, pool Tel : 04 90 92 06 14 Fax : 04 90 92 56 54 http://www.hotel-villeverte.com/ang.htm A friend of mine stayed here with her mother. They loved it. Nothing fancy, but right in town. Good rates. Hotel du Soleil - St. Remy http://www.hotelsoleil.com/ website in french only swimming pool, sweet garden area 35 Avenue Pasteur, 13210 Saint-Rémy de Provence Tel : 04 90 92 00 63 Fax : 04 90 92 61 07 E-mail : [email protected] This one has a lovely website. It has recently changed ownership. Formerly, it was Nostradamus Hotel. L'hotel Sous les figuiers 3 avenue Taillandier 13210 Saint-Rémy-de-Provence France Phone : +33 0 432 601 540 Fax: +33 0 432 601 539 [email protected] http://www.hotel-charme-provence.com/en/index.html pool, no TV This one was recommended by Australians. A couple more:
I couldn't find more than one on-line review, but the couple thought it was a great find -- cheap, but clean and has a charming terrace. Also has a pool. Hôtel l'Amandière ** Saint-Rémy-de-Provence 700 meters from the town center. http://perso.wanadoo.fr/hotel.amandiere/index.htm [email protected] http://www.saintremy-de-provence.com...aamandiere.htm This next one is 3 star and more expensive Hôtel les Antiques 15 Avenue Pasteur 13532 Saint-Rémy-de-Provence Tél. +33 (0)4 90 92 03 02 Fax +33 (0)4 90 92 50 40 http://www.hotelvision.com/st-remy-p.antiques/pagea.htm |
Wow -- I'd try L'hotel Sous les figuiers -- that looks lovely. Trust me, you won't need a tv...but with teens the pool is a good idea and this one looks charming.

We spent two nights in St. Remy at Les Jardins de Fontanille. This was a *** with beautiful gardens, large pool, rather new rooms - modern with a small kitchenette, and private patio. We paid 55 E per night which was unbelievable - it was the end of October, and was a bargain. The phone # 0490924242. Fax 0490923924. We did not have a reservation. I don't know if they now require a weeks stay - but we had no problem staying two nights. The pool is quite beautiful - it would be a great place for a family. |
Cindy,
My wife and I have stayed at L'Amandiere in each of the last 11 years and will return in early June. Rooms are clean, small. Price is moderate, circa 60 euros a night + 8 euros for breakfast. It is served in a nice nook. There is a pool and pretty grounds. It is about a ten minute walk in to town. The proprietors, Christophe and Claudine, are charming, thoughtful folks. The only drawback to this hotel is a lack of a/c. Last summer Provence (France) broiled. If your travels are not in July or August I would highly recommend this hotel. |
