Paris Shuttle Service - AVOID!!!!
 

Feedback from a wonderful weekend in Paris apart from
Paris Shuttle Service Nightmare - they basically left us abandoned and took no responsibility for it.
www.parisshuttleservice.com is to be avoided at all costs.
Service level no better than criminals - It cost over 200 euros and 4 hours of time not counting the stress.
I will do everything possible to ensure no other people are left with a young child and luggage in Paris.
Opinion - worse than what you could imagine
I have the sms messages where they told us they weren't coming 2 minutes after the pick-up time
Paris – Beauvais – Get the Ryanair bus and save the pain
Please contact me for any clarification on the worst service ever. The city was great, the people friendly but this was what ruined it…….

Shame you let one bad experience ruin a weekend in Paris. I'm fascinated that you've come here as a new poster to give very limited information.

Wy don't you tell us about the rest of the weekend - the bits you enjoyed.

You clearly have not been reading the travel boards very much if you had the weird idea that shuttle service from Beauvais is reliable or desirable. Even a taxi from the airport to the Beauvais train station to get to Paris is a better option.

Since the disappearance of the rental phones scams at CDG, shuttles have become the #1 cause of problems for tourists (I say tourists because I know of no resident who would use them). The problem with shuttles is discussed often so why people continue to use them is not easy to understand.

Allow me to play devil's advocate here.

Most people don't spend a lot of time on travel forums (hi everyone!) so saying the topic of shuttles has been much discussed or (to paraphrase) is common knowledge, is unfair and is essentially blaming the OP for whatever mishap befell them in Paris.

Not everyone is internet and/or travel savvy, so to blame someone for not being picked up by a shuttle that had been booked is unfair in the extreme.

On the other hand, if the OP could let the forum know exactly what happened, rather than just giving a vague sense of wrongdoing, shouting "here be dragons" and running off, it would serve to help other people a little more...

I have a trip to Paris planned in may catching a Ryanair flight out of beauvais. Since I also do not read all the forums and have never been to europe, I have no idea what the best way of travel would be to get there. If someone could give some good advice on what to do that would be great. If memory serve me our flight is around 5pm so we will have plenty of time to get to the airport if needed. Thanks!

Even though Beauvais airport is still rising in popularity, there is only one efficient way to get there -- the Ryanair bus from Porte Maillot. Use any other method to get their at your own risk.

With a little luck, in a year or two the SNCF will have the bright idea to run trains out of Gare du Nord with a connecting shuttle bus to the airport.

Dukey I don't understand your question to me. I would be grumpy for a while that something had gone wrong, but I wouldn't let it ruin my entire weekend.

CraigMcV, first, I'm sorry for all grief you encountered with the shuttle and then here. "Guys", Craig asked for advice here first and obviously chose wrong. Why are you jumping on him?

Would you please relate exactly what happened? What transportation did you end up with?

We've used shuttles (will have to check just which) and have never had a problem except when our plane was late and we couldn't let them know.

TDudette - Please reread the OP's post and point out the advice about which he is asking. Perhaps you'll find that he is not asking anything, he is telling us to avoid a shuttle company. There is no question in his post at all. After many years of reading and contributing to this forum as well as other well known travel forums, I have seen a pattern of individuals establishing a forum identity, only to make a few posts slamming a shuttle company and never reappearing or making a subsequent contribution.

Of course these forums are anonymous and one cannot be sure of anyone's motives but, to me, this is either a legitimately wronged patron of this shuttle company or it is an ambitious competitor trying to discredit his competition. Many of these one time posters, slamming a service, claim to be from middle town America, but sometimes they have difficulty with common English syntax (not necessarily in this case).

Thus, I am always suspicious of posters who sign up on a forum, spew nebulous accusations, and never return. If Craig McV continues as a regular or even semi regular, his credibility is enhanced and everyone benefits. If not, it's difficult to embrace his motives as legitimate.

Unless Craig is touting another service, I feel this may be the incident that has pushed him to participate in a forum and help warn others of a possible family disaster with luggage and kids ( always more complicated)::

A few more details would certainly have improved the understanding of the incident. I hope he comes back with more.

People count on shuttles to turn up.. so I can see how someone would be livid and worried being told only two minutes after pick up time that "there would be no shuttle, monsieur.. je regrette."

Sarastro, sorry, I should have said OP's prior thread. I hope you are mistaken in this instance.

We used a shuttle from our Hotel St Jacques to the CDG airport. It was arranged by the hotel, with a service they use often, so we felt comfortable. The company recommended our pickup time, based on our flight time. The driver was right on time. The fare was reasonable, but I forget what it was.

Of course, the driver picked up two more couples, which ate up time we had forgotten to expect. Then, we were the last couple to get off the shuttle, just because that's how the gates were arranged.

I was really biting my nails because we barely made it an hour in advance. I get nervous about catching planes and like to be 2 hours in advance for an international flight.

Lesson learned to leave earlier than the shuttle company suggests.

As for Paris I will get on the case to write my opinion and views of this wonderful city that has really picked up over the past 15 years.

we actually had a good experience with this service and found them on http://shuttleprices.com I guess it just depends on who your driver is

Apparently the OP has determined that what happened to him will automatically happen to everybody else.

The OP first wrote this a year and a half ago. A lot can change in a year and a half.
