I have spent so many hours going through every online , chowhound list etc. I had a great Fodors link but I cannot find it. Looking for somewhere near here by our hotel for Dinner. Bistro style... second day after arriving from US! It will be a Thursday ..thank you!!
|
Where is your hotel?
|
7th.. Hotel La Comtesse Tour Eiffel close to the Musee Rodin it looks like.
|
Chez L'Ami Jean is my husband's favorite restaurant. Very good. Lots of information online about it.
Very close is Michel Chadun chocolate shop. Another special stop. |
|
Ive got a couple on my list that I gleaned from Fodor's
One is Cafe Constant and the other is Fontaine de Mars. |
Fontaine de Mars is better from the outside than from the inside, IMO. Obama dine there, however.
Cafe Constant is great - but they don't take reservations. Stu Dudley |
I have been to Cafe Constant several times for lunch and once for dinner and really like it. I have always gone early to avoid a wait.
|
Being early in Europe is never a problem for us, Nikki, it's the staying up late that's difficult. jk Thanks for that review of Constant.
Stu D maybe I will throw Fontaine de Mars overboard then. |
Our favorites on the 7th are:
Patooka (the razor clams, yum!) Restaurant Mariette (I am still dreaming about the crispy foie gras wrap in cabbage with mussel stock, pure heaven) Tomy and Co (the softest gnocchi, with truffle shaving Gloria (excellent pasta and pizza) David Toutin can't say enough good things out this restaurant. Our standbys are Cafe Constance, Les Cocottes (love the artichoke ravioli) We like Fointaine de Mars. We had the best artichoke soup with Foie gras the other day and we always order the sole meunière. We tried the veal's head for first time and we really enjoy it. I never skip dessert here because I think they make the best Ile Flottante The Bakery on rue Dominique/Ave rapp/ is excellent. We pretty much ate an apple tartlets everything morning, but you must buy some cream from the cheese shop at rue Cler to eat with it. Thank me later. We just got back and I am having a hard time adjusting to normal life, I thought staying in Paris for six weeks would keep us satisfied but I want to stay even longer next time. If you have time, go to the market at President Wilson, it is a small market but they have excellent food for sale. I love the eggplant from the African vendor. Get some coconut rice to go with it, I hope you have an amazing time and you enjoy the 7th as much as we do. |
We love La Fontaine de Mars
Also Le Florimond, Auberge de Bressane, Bistro Bretheuil, Thoumieux (for cassoulet), and Café Constant. |
Cafe Constant, Reed, Philippe Excoffier, Bistrot Belhara. We like all of these. We were not a huge fan of Les Cocottes. I'm not sure why, maybe an off night.
|
David Toutain is indeed an excellent restaurant, but I wouldn't call it at all bistrot-like.
|
Booking-marking for my trip in February. Thanks.
|
Hi Thank yo all. I have seen most of the and either we have been there, didn't take reservations.. etc. or some other reason. But there are a few on there. Has anyone been to Bistrot Chez France? Something that seems 'off the grid'.... thanks!!
|
Just across the border from the 7ème arr is a great bistro called "Le Casse-noix" located in the 15ème arr.
Have no idea about the other place you mentioned. |
Pottoka was our favorite of the trip last summer. Amazing deal if you order their pre fix which comes with many choices.
|
Another vote for Cafe Constant.

*Pottoka was our favorite of the trip last summer.*
Thanks plambers, I was going to ask if anyone had been there... |
Not a bistro but not a fancy-dress place either is the very good and for some reason never mentioned Pasco, in the blvd. de la Tour-Maubourg. The menu is largely seafood. We've eaten here several times and never been disappointed; I don't know why it flies under the radar.
