It is much more of a professional supply store, as are the others in that area.

djkbooks-
Thanks again for posting this information. We visited the Bastille market on rue Richard Lenoir yesterday morning. Such a treat!! There are loads of stalls which just about everything imaginable for sale (it goes on for blocks)--not just food, but clothing, flowers, wine, etc. For me, the food stalls were the most attractive. I wish we could get a similar quality in the States. It reminds me of a farmers market or something like the market at the Ferry Building on Saturdays in SF, only better and more variety. There were loads of cheese stalls, baked goods, vegetables and fruits of all kinds imaginable--oh the smells of the fresh fruit, fish markets, italian specialities, herbalists, food vendors (lebanese, indian, paella, crepes, etc.), and the list could go on and on. There were a number of chicken places at the market and of course we had to try one. What a treat! And it's not just "the chicken man," but all of the vendors were huge flirts. The ladies flirting with my husband, and the gents with me. All out for the sale of course, but still loads of fun! If you're planning a trip to Paris, you should make a special effort to get to one of the outdoor markets--I don't think that the Bastille one necessarily needs to be "the one", but it was fun! If you can't make one of the outdoor markets, a walk down Rue Cler could serve as a substitute (but only if you can't get to one of the real things). But, the apricot gelato at A La Mere de Ma Famille was yummy! |
And some of these vendors will be at a different market the next day.

I know this is a moderately old message, but I first saw the Paula Deen's "Paula's European Adventure" last week and enjoyed it and thought I'd share for the others who missed it in the summer.
It will air again tonight, the 24th at 7 PM eastern/pacific. And to get location information google Food TV or go to the link below. http://tinyurl.com/ow962 |
I watched this program for the first time today and wondered about more info on some of the places mentioned. I was so happy to find this site and pleasantly suprised to see the post from BettyBoob, this very day! It was great to see the post from djkbooks with the info I wanted.
I am grateful to know about this wonderful site. :-) |
