Hi Suzie 1
Yes Prince Eugene is a find. Very close to the Nations.several metro lines there. Block away from bus stops and a nice walk to Bastille. Markets Belleville and also walk to Pere LaChase. Many local restaurants nearby. Excellant couscous nearby. Staff bilingual, helpful and friendly. Also has small mini bar in room. check out hotel site wwww.hotel-prince-eugene.com We couldn't wait to book again for July this year. Enjoy |
Do you make your reservations on line or email the hotel? For 2 adults I would get a double, not too sure how this works. Looks like I found me a hotel. Let me know after your stay in July if you still like it.
Can you walk to the Louvre from the hotel or is it too far? |
suze1,
Not walking distance to Louvre, unless you are in training. You will be in a quieter area, with very few tourists. You are near the Metro line that goes along the Right Bank so you will be albe to sopt near Notre Dame, Marais, Louvre, Champs Elysee. Left Bank and Eiffel Tower would require changing lines, and would be a longer trip. It would be a long walk to any tourist sites, but the Metro system is very good. You are also nearish to Gare de Lyon so you could catch Air France bus to/from CDG if you want to do that. |
Suze1,
If you go to www.pagesjaunes.fr enter "hotel prince eugene" and "paris", then click on the links you can get a map. photos, aerial photos, etc of the area. |
Hi suze 1
Too far to walk to Louvre but bus goes direct #76 stop very close to hotel. Last year booked thru fastbooking.com this year since husband speaks French booked directly to hotel. Will keep you posted after return. |
Is the Hotel Prince Eugene a better location to stay in than Hotel Leveque's area by the Eifel Tower.
|
I don't think it's a matter of better or worse, as they are just different. Certainly the Hotel Levesque's area is much more popular with American tourists than the Hotel Prince Eugene's area.

Schnookies:
From your posts on other threads it looks like it will be you and your husband. And you'll still be in Paris in August? In August, you're going to want air conditioning if you can possibly do it. I know the Bonaparte has a/c, but may be out of your price range. |
My husband and I will be in Paris the first week of May 2009. I don't think we're going to need an air conditioning.

Same problem. I'm astonished at the rise in prices of 2 star hotels...in addition to match the price increase they seem to have raised their star rating to 3 or better. Also I see a lot of the big chains have bought up the little hotels which were so reasonable and now are not.
Looking for something reasonable, really reasonable - in 5th or 6th as close to the Luxembourg Gardens as possible. Didn't there used to be a St Jacques which was reasonable - but the price is way up now. The Bonaparte is too far away for me, although I have visited there. Seems to be a quiet area. Any suggestions for something close to Luxembourg? |
Mahya, what are your dates? What would you consider reasonable? Would you consider something in the 14th (but still a few blocks from Luxembourg Gardens)?
|
Mahya2,
The Hotel Bonaparte is very close to Jardin du Luxembourg. It's right by Saint Sulpice, which is in turn, very close to Jardin du Luxembourg. Sandy |
Hi WillTravel,
Paris Dates are from the 3rd to 12th... Sandy, I must have lost my bearings but Bonaparte seemed a long long walk away from St. Germain Blvd - Last year I spent a few days in a place across from St. Sulpice --just feet away from Luxembourg Gardens - next to the D'Orsay has to be my favorite place :) but that place is no longer avlbl. Keep em coming, guys. Thanks |
P.S.
WillTravel, Sorry I didnt answer your question. I'm really not acquainted with the 14th. One has to keep in mind that I try to be centrally located because I wont take an underground/subway. I'll do trains, buses, but no metros - so it's either my feet or the buses, thus the necessity to be fairly central... |
The Bonaparte is just a couple of short blocks up the rue Bonaparte from Blvd. St-Germain; I think it's a great location in the 6th.
I also like the Hotel du Lys, which is closer to Blvd. St Michel, Notre Dame, and getting to the right bank. |
You are near lots of buses in the 14th, or at least in the part of the 14th I am thinking about, but I doubt it's central enough for what you want.
|
Hi schnookies; Try tripadvisor.com/paris Then click on Paris hotels in the left hand column and you can chose the dollar amount you want to spend. ENJOY Iris

HI M,
>Looking for something reasonable,... in 5th or 6th as close to the Luxembourg Gardens as possible.... The Bonaparte is too far away for me,... The Bonaparte is about 0.2km N of the Luxembourg Gardens. How close do you want to be? ((I)) |
PS,
>I must have lost my bearings but Bonaparte seemed a long long walk away from St. Germain Blvd - It's closer to Bld St Germain than the Luxembourg Gardens. :) Look up 61 rue Bonaparte at www.viamichelin.com ((I)) |
Mahaya2,
I've read about this place here, and looked at booking once but plans changed. Good price, near Jardin de Luxembourg. www.hotelmicheletodeon.com |
