Roberta, I didn't realize we were neighbors in NJ. Just loved those big, beautiful snowflakes yesterday, too.

Joan, I know you'll enjoy your last week in Paris, and wish you safe travels home. EJ

kerouac Dec 6th, 2009 07:18 AM

Hah, I know you went to Léon and I can even confirm to police investigators that it is a recent photo, because Léon just recently changed its frites bowls on all its restaurants to that model.

Blimey Kerouac, you know EVERYTHING happening in gay Paree!

Hello Joan, I need a Favour.
Please can you find out if Cafe Constant and the rest of Christian's cafe`s, will be open in the last week of July?
If he is, then I will consider moving to the 7th for Wed.28th and Thurs 29th July. If not we will continue saying at the Hotel on the Ile de la Jatte.
Thank you.

I will inquire and let you know...

kerouac Dec 6th, 2009 08:34 AM

Well, Obe isn't one of my habitual meal venues, so I don't know if they have changed their bowls. :)

What is that vertical thing in your photo? Weird.

sueb08 Dec 6th, 2009 07:14 PM

Joan
I enjoyed your pictures. Your L"obe desserts looked familiar. they do a wonderful meal.
I just returned from Denver .They had a 24 hour snow storm so was glad to get home. We have not had any snow yet but it is predicted all week.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy everything.

Sue

Joan - thank you. Your photos of ET were really wonderful with the sky in two different hues.
sue08 - That means our friends in Fort Collins must have experienced it too. Must be very beautiful.

We had a busy morning. Betty had breakfast in and I went out. We then did some shopping...cards for seating on Thursday, cocktail napkins. We were going to Nicolas for wine, but it is Monday. Tomorrow is just as good. We checked out some outlets and dropped back to apt. and the on to Les Cocottes for lunch. We arrived at noon pretty much as they opened. By 12:45 it was full.

I have been doing some catch up and Betty has now gone to preview the aapt. that she has rented for her group in the spring.

Here are a few pics from lunch:

The view from your balcony!!!!

tod Dec 7th, 2009 06:17 AM

Joan - If the one dish was Eggs Mayonnaise I know my DH will love it! I rather fancied the (I'm guessing now) stir-fry beef or duck?! Looks like they don't let you starve with those helpings - It must be rated very good value for one's euro.

gracejoan3 Dec 7th, 2009 06:40 AM

It is their caesar..lots of eggs..some chicken, too. The one with poached eggs had bits of bacon in it. The soup was excellent..

Mimi

susanna Dec 7th, 2009 07:17 AM

I am still enjoying all the pics, my favorite is the poached egg salad, damn I love that salad.

I just got my ticket to come in Feb, I will be there from the 14th-25th, alone form the 21st so I am hoping that we can also hook up for a drink or meal.

Will you be starting another thread for that trip?

gracejoan3 Dec 7th, 2009 07:28 AM

susanna

You may be at Les Cocottes often for that salad..pretty good, healthy, too. If extra hungry add a soup!!

I should be here the end of Feb..barring any problems when I get home next week. I haven't done anything about tickets yet. I am getting double points with Delta for this trip, so will wait for those points to add to what I have.

As to anew thread, I will be glad to start a new one, if people are interested.

a bientot..

Joan

Bonjour de Paris! Joan and I are having a lovely time. Walking our legs off and eating too much, of course. I had a nice Caesar salad at Les Cocottes today. Oh, by the way, the mistranslation above is my fault! Veloute de Potimarron has nothing to do with chesnuts - just another type of pumpkin along with potiron and citrouille.

I spent the afternoon checking out the apartment I've rented on rue des Beaux Arts for my group next May. It's just as it was presented. I think we'll be fine there. Great location. I also went to see the Hotel Bonaparte where I've reserved a room for two friends who won't be staying in the apartment. Nice place. Very friendly folks. They showed me several rooms including one like I've reserved.

Not sure what we'll be doing tomorrow. Either Joan or I will let you know, I'm sure.

yestravel Dec 7th, 2009 12:33 PM

Oh yes, u must start a new thread for a trip in Feb. This thread has me anticipating our visit in January and a thread in Feb will be great for reminiscing and no doubt wishing I was still in Paris!

SUMMAGOLD Dec 7th, 2009 12:56 PM

hi Joan, can i ask you an unrelated question? for the shuttle inter, where do they pick you up? i think i read somewhere here that they have a sign with your name on it at the baggage claim.... my question is, is the car waiting curbside or in the airport carpark? just trying to figure out if taking the taxi is more convenient, as the taxis are right outside of baggage claim.. thanks again!

cristeen Dec 7th, 2009 02:08 PM

Joan,
Thank you for all of your reports and adventures. We were picked up right on time, actually we were early and Shuttle-Inter was waiting for us. We ate at Cafe Constant on Saturday night and had a delicious meal. Loved the area, too. I think dh is tired of me telling him of all the things that "Joan says" ;o)
It's been great.

Summagold-Shuttle-Inter met us just outside baggage claim as we leave the airport. We walked a very short distance to the parking area. I think it must be reserved for taxis or something. It was not right by the curb, but very close to it. Not to a shuttle park somewhere else.

RobertaL Dec 7th, 2009 06:01 PM

I'm glad tod asked about the "meat in question" in your poached egg dish. Joan, you have to understand we need to know the details so our imaginations can properly fantasize! Starving here.

Elsiejune, I find that my favorite snowfalls are the ones that don't entail shoveling!!

Summagold, nothing like getting off of an ambien induced flight and finding that shuttle-inter man waving a card with your name on it. You can't miss him.

What do you have planned for your final week, Joan?

-Roberta

gracejoan3 Dec 7th, 2009 08:34 PM

summagold,

There is only one way out with luggage from the securred luggage area. When you exit you will see many people standig other side of rail with cards with names on them. Shuttle-Inter will be one of them.

He will take your luggage from you and your vehicle is very nearby the exit door from this area. That is all there is to it.

Roberta

My soup was: potage champignons
My Salade: Salade Roquette
Betty's Salad: Salade Cesar

Dudley's arrive today, I have to get a new phone handset..something happened to mine that has caused recent problems that began with Orange F problems. Must pick up wine, champagne and flowers for our pre get together party here in apt. before going over to our restaurant for dinner on Thursday evening. Friday, Phil(weekender), Madelyn and I have lunch reservations at Violon d'Ingres. I do have things planned! Have to watch Chicago weather for Phil..a winter storm there.

cristeen: Glad you enjoyed Cafe Constant..it is 'old" bistro style..sometimes, due to the crowds, the service may get a little dragging....

Have things to do today..first get the darn phone replaced...

a bientot..

Joan
