Sassy, what website were you using that asked for a cell phone number? My friend had the same problem and ended up buying hers from FNAC. I used this site
http://www.grandpalais.fr/fr/Accueil/p-93-Accueil.htm with no problems and no cell phone! |
no not me.. I think maryann had cell phone trouble..

In a wistful moment, I checked the ticket availabilty again for the Grand Palais Monet exhibit during the week we are in Paris (next week). I had noticed earlier that the website was down for several hours.
Much to my amazement, 9:00am on Tuesday, 10/12 is now available. It looks like other times are posted as well. So for anyone who may have given up trying to get tickets, it's a good idea to re-check the website. I'm so excited! For those who can't go, the exhibit's website is extraordinarily wonderful. |
I bought my ticket yesterday for admission Thursday 21 October. The only time available was 5 pm or later. Not a problem, glad to score a ticket!

JaniceGo-I'm so happy to read that you were able to get tickets. I agree, the website is amazing. Have a great time.

I kept putting off sitting down to buy tickets and almost missed out. I was only able to buy for Oct. 18 at 7:30 pm. Everything else was pretty much sold out during our 10 day stay.
Lynnaustin, I believe Visa is called Blue Card in France. |

I don't see any tickets on this Grand Palais website until October 23, and we will only be there until October 18. Is there some other site that might have tickets? Did someone say they got them at their hotel? Thanks, Len |
I'm not understanding the web-site for the tickets. It seems to be asking me for a password. Can someone who has purchased tickets on line explain how this works.
|
After you pick the day, time and type of ticket that you want, you will get to a screen that asks if you are a new client. This is where you enter your cell phone, password which you make up, email, name, etc. I did it in French - it's very easy. Not sure if it's available in English or not. I had done this before last year but couldn't find my password so I just used another phone number - it doesn't seem to matter...then I entered my cc card info - I already called them so they know I would be charging out of the country - then you get a link where you can print out your ticket as well as a receipt....really quite easy...

I used the link that Michel gave in the original post. Click on the "buy tickets online" section. Choose your dates and times and type of tickets/quantity. Then you when go to purchase it will have you set up an account with your cell phone number and select a password. The top section is for those who already have an account/password. Underneath that is a place to set up a new account. You have to input your cell phone #, select password, input name, country and email.
Then you can proceed to payment, with a choice of 4 types of credit cards. After you pay it will then give you the option of having the tickets downloaded to your cell phone or print at home. I printed mine at home. It was very easy. I never had to use the account that I set up but I would if I lost the tickets. I would definitely choose the print at home option and print a couple of copies. |
Whoops, I was posting the same time as Mara. I used my cell phone and noted the country as U.S.
It was quite easy as Mara said. Also if the website switches back to French (as it did for me) there is 'Anglais" noted on the lower left side. Click on it and it goes back to English. |
Thank you very much.

Just returned from the exhibition - it is fabulous! And so wonderful to see so many side by side from each series. Good audio tour as well. But lots and lots of people, making it sometimes difficult to navigate through - although the further into the exhibit we were, the thinner the crowds seemed to be.

I bought tickets through the website which at the time was incredibly SLOW. I thought it froze up and may have unknowingly clicked the screen a second time---I got 2 confirmation e-mails and 2 charges to my cc---called cc company and will have to monitor to see that only one charge is billed !

The link is to a review of the Monet exhibition. |
we went to the Turner exhibition at the grand palais last spring and walked up at about 6pm on a friday night. it took us about 1 hour to get in - the queues have very helpful signs that tell you "how long from here" - alla disney. they were pretty acurate.
people with tickets were also having to queue, presumably until the "right" time. so no point in turning up early if you've got a ticket. one option taken by few people, who like us had turned up "on spec", was to buy a season ticket for the grand palais, which gave them instant access. if you lived in Paris or were going to be there for a while, this looked like a good deal. once inside, there is a cloakroom for those umbrellas you'll need, and quite a nice cafe whence we repaired to recover from the queue before we started to look at the exhibition. having now read about the exhibition, I'm wondering about hwo to wangle a trip to Paris! thanks, Michel! |
I am wrangling too...I think it's a must-see in my book!
|
cooperandjade - thanks for the link to that fabulous website.
formidable! |
