Paris Hotel- HELP last minute availability

Trying to get a hotel in the area of the 6th or 7th, for around 100 Euros. But now it can be just about anywhere!! I know, I know...i should have booked earlier....don't ask.. Anyway..I have struck out on 4. So far no availability at Hotel Varnuiel, Hotel Therese, Hotel Britannique, Victoria Chatelet. Any other comparable hotels i can try.

Have you looked on EuroCheapo?

What dates do you need? I have no knowledge of the hotel Sansonnet (found it while surfing) but it's in the 4th and the price is right http://www.hotel-sansonnet.com/situation.html# hopefully if it's awful some one will say so.

Also try the Flor Rivoli http://www.hotel-paris-florrivoli.com/English/Main.htm I have not stayed there but walked by it last October - good location in the 1st (13, rue des Deux Boules). I don't know what "last minute" is, but they do have rooms for this Friday, a double is 80 Euros. You can plug in dates on line for "real time" availability.

Dosu, I haven't been to the following hotels but they were on our short list. Prices are for doubles:
Grand Hotel des Balcons, 6th, www.balcons.com E100
Hotel Residence Monge, 5th, www.hotelmonge.com E95.
We're staying at the Hotel Saint-Jacques, 5th, www.hotel-saintjacques.com E112.
Good luck!
Linda

Also give these a try:
Hôtel Champ des Mars, www.hotel-du-champ-de-mars.com

Hôtel Langlois

Hôtel des Trois Colleges, www.parishotels.com

Although I have not used lastminutetravel.com I have checked their offerings periodically and alot of the hotels are reputable, many that have been discussed on Fodor's as well. I think that would be the easiest. Maybe if you do find a few that you like on lastminutetravel.com, you can email the hotels directly for rate information and personalized service.

You may want to give it a try.

mclaurie Apr 26th, 2004 03:54 PM

Try laterooms.com and lastminute.com (different than lastminutetravel I think). You can search by arr. & date availability to save time. When you find something available that's interesting post back. Good luck.

Hotel Du Sojour is my favorite. Adorable and affordable!

www.venere.com lists lots of hotels in paris, and allows you to search by dates.

If you're willing to compromise on location, consider Priceline. But I'd only try the St. Germain - Latin Quarter - Montparnasse zone. You should be able to come in well under your limit. See http://www.betterbidding.com and http://www.biddingfortravel.com .

Iregeo Apr 26th, 2004 05:00 PM

I don't know how "last minute" you need, but I was able to book Hotel Bonaparte 3 weeks in advance of my April stay. You can find the phone/fax nos. on this site. Good luck.

WillTravel Apr 26th, 2004 05:08 PM

The other site I also recommend:

http://www.accorhotels.com

If you find a hotel of interest, click all the way through and try your dates, because some good rates often show up that way that you can't get otherwise.

How about Hotel Muguet? It is about that price and in the 7th. We are staying there next week. www.hotelmuguet.com

dosu Apr 26th, 2004 05:12 PM

Thanks, for all your replies... the dates i need are May 15th and 16th. If anyone happens on a nice hotel that's available.. let me know. I don't mind paying more than 100euross.. up to maybe 150 or so.

mvor Apr 26th, 2004 05:16 PM

If you need a room in the next 3 to 5 days, try www.ratestogo.com. Good luck!

Dosu, In the 5th near the Cluny Museum is a 2* hotel larger than most called Hotel Le Home Latin,15 et 17 rue du Sommerard, tele: 01.43.26.25.21 we stayed there two years ago, they were able to give us four rooms and they seemed to be able to offer last minute reservations. I love the area so would recommend it to you. The hotel is nothing fancy but it would be comfortable and I would think the price for a double would be in your price range. Good luck, Deborah

dosu..I have stayed at Grand Balcons and St Jacques mentioned above and was happy with both. Balcons especially ..try to get in there it is very nice and in a lovely area and has a great buffet breakfast. But book NOW!!! Have fun!

cls2paris Apr 27th, 2004 03:53 AM

I have stayed twice a the Grand Hotel des Balcons and have been happy. Clean rooms and friendly staff - some street noise if you are on that side of the building. I think last year it was 100 Euro for a double. Great breakfast buffet! And added bonus - an ice machine off the lobby! :)

amwosu Apr 27th, 2004 02:01 PM

Such drama brewing...I am sitting on the edge of my seat...I MUST know if you found a room and where you have decided to stay. Forget about soap operas. This is soooo much more fun. LOL!

We stayed at the Claude Bernard last summer - nice enough, great location, very helpful staff. I think the doubles there were running around your budget. We had a family suite which was quite large and 'charming'.

MorganB Apr 27th, 2004 02:59 PM

The Mercure Raspail is available for those dates. It's in the 14th but right at the edge of the 6th and has good metro access. It is 100 euros per night.

dosu Apr 27th, 2004 08:39 PM

Thanks again, all. For those of you in suspense... I have found availability at either the Hotel Fleurie(165) or Hotel Therese(130)...concerned that the Therese room is too small.. they say it is 11sq meters...so i'm checking on the size of the Superior room.
Also heard good thing about Hotel de Lutece(I'lle St Louis)...where can i find a site or email?..appreciate all the help and suggesstions.. i have been checking all the sites you're giving me..

ninasdream Apr 27th, 2004 09:00 PM

I just returned from Hotel Residence Les Gobelins inthe 13th/ borders on the 5th. Double room about 70 e. See if you can get a quieter room on the courtyard. This is a very modest, but clean hotel. Not luxury. You can contact them via email and reserve. I did everything within 2 weeks of departure. They are 20 minutes' walk from Jardin du Luxumbourg & Pantheo, metro to Louvre is paces away and a straight 8 stop trip. Hotel is listed & rated here on Fodor's also. www.hotelgobelins.com. Good luck!!

dosu Apr 27th, 2004 09:09 PM

thanks, i think i'm going to raise the budget, afterall, it' only 2 nights...and additionally it is after 7 dayss on a barge. we'll really appreciate the extra luxury by then!!

Huitres Apr 27th, 2004 10:37 PM

I stay at the Hotel Kensington in the 7th Arr (79, avenue de la Bourdonnais, Metro: Ecole Militaire and RER: Pont de l'Alma) and get a double for only 67 euros/night! It is 2 blocks away from the Eiffel Tower and is within walking distance to the 5th, 6th, 1st, and 8th Arrs. The hotel staff is friendly and a few of the clerks speak English. I stay there every time I am in Paris - you can't beat the bargain nor the location!

mclaurie Apr 28th, 2004 06:02 AM

The Hotel Henri IV Rive Gauche is newish (10/03) on Rue St Jacques 1 block from Notre Dame &amp; near RER from airport. It's 140 euros/nite &amp; looks fantastic on this website. It's a <b>sister hotel to the Lutece</b> so I think if you go to this website I took note of, you might also find the Lutece.

http://hotels.parishotels.com/hotel-...amp;hotel=2146

Since I noticed on another thread you're considering the Duc St Simon (sorry I don't ahve the webs address) you might also look at Relais St Germaine which was recommended by frequent Patrick (whose taste I trust-he's a decroator). He described it as a small hotel with big rooms decorated by designer owners. Feels like Paris residence. Near Odeon metro stop

The Hotel de Notre Dame is on Rue Maitre Albert. About 150 euro/double. http://www.hotel-paris-notredame.com/index.html
