PARIS BEAD SHOPS??

Help!!...a friend just returned from Paris...with bags of beads. She can't remember the exact area...she thinks it was somewhere in the Marais...a street with many shops selling beads. Any ideas?? Next time I'm gonna tape a pen to her wrist..........

They have fabulous bread shops all over Paris.

Bailey, you're not going to believe this, but just go to Yahoo and type in <i>Paris bead shops</i>, and you will see that all is not lost...

PS. typed up my itinerary for Italy and I think I missed my calling as a beaurocrat, because when it was finished I never saw so many words! It (I mean &quot;I&quot;) went on and on and on!

As someone who went out this evening with a nice string of handmade beads around her neck, I say you're welcome! Always glad to help.

I can't find your Italy itinerary...when do you leave??

dln Aug 12th, 2003 08:54 PM

Bailey, click on my name and it's number 31. You might want to save it for tomorrow morning with a big mug of coffee. It's a long one! We leave the Thursday after Labor Day, so I still have a bit of time left. Wish it were sooner, of course!

Yes, Bailey, there are bead shops in the Marais. Look for them in Rue du Temple, and surroundings, and you shall find them.

Good shopping!

Also Rue Reaumur and Rue Turbigo might have what you want. They are close to Rue du Temple.

Poilane bakers are pretty famous. They have a website:

Hi Bailey,

AP has a good idea. You could ask Poilane to bake a lot of teeny weeny baguettes.

Bailey Aug 13th, 2003 05:15 AM

IRA
Should I have Poilane put the holes in 'em before or after they are baked...making it much easier to string???
I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets confused!!

While in Paris in May I saw a wonderful bead shop in the Marias area but they were not open at the time. I sure wish I could remember the address but it was not far from Place des Vosges maybe on Rue de Turenne. Good luck

Since beads of all kinds are a big part of my life, I would think that there might be quite a market for those tiny little Poilane baguettes and even some small croissant earrings!

ira Aug 13th, 2003 06:08 AM

I should think that the holes should be made prior to baking in order not to break that crisp, crunchy crust.

Scarlett Aug 13th, 2003 06:14 AM

Well, you know the colors for the fall are quite rich so I think Poilane should add plenty of food coloring and chocolate to those tiny little baked goods. Imagine, when you feel hungry, just nibble your necklace~

SCARLETT
Remember the hard candy necklaces on the stretchy thread...and the gooey-fun mess? I think Krispy-Cremes on a string may be the next BIG thing...I think we're on to something!!

Maybe we should start a post of favorite bead shops in the world???
THANKS TO ALL FOR THE GREAT BEAD INFO....if anyone has shop name or address fo a specific shop...I'll send 'em a bead surprise!!

Scarlett Aug 13th, 2003 07:12 AM

LOL, Krispy Kremes dangling from our necks and ears :D
I wish I knew some specific names for you:) But I will check my lists of supply places that I have and see if Paris is included~
You can write me at [email protected]

Bailey and Scarlett, you two are a stitch! Just for the two of you, I will keep my eyes peeled for Italian bead treasures. The necklace I mentioned above is made of handblown Venetian glass beads, mostly gold and green, and I get so many compliments on it that it makes my head swell! I will need to add to my collection, don't you think, with results like that?

Bailey Aug 13th, 2003 07:34 AM

OH DIN....
What have you started? Where did you find your Venetian treasure?
