Welcome back, Joan! Did you go to Violon d'ingres for lunch? I recognized the chairs, lol. Nice....

travelchat Dec 2nd, 2013 06:56 AM

Keep 'em coming!. Living vicariously. Looks like you're starting out right and so glad you're posting. Sorry about your rocky trip in. Been there, done that.

gracejoan Dec 2nd, 2013 06:59 AM

Hi, yes I did get into town in time to make it to Vilolon for lunch..otherwise would have gone to Cafe. Catherine was there having lunch with friends..came over and chatted with me. Christian came by later, too.

I was glad that I did make it..Violon d'Ingres is such a fine place. They have some lunch special menus now...A good buy for all that Violon has to offer.

Looking forward to more.

How's the weather? We may be in Paris next week.

Trophywife007 Dec 2nd, 2013 09:10 AM

Lovely pictures, Joan. I want some of those scallops. ;) Glad you made it safely!

nytraveler Dec 2nd, 2013 09:35 AM

Looks nice - but I prefer bay scallops. Don;t know if they have them in europe - asked once in a seafood restaurant (Sheeky's?) for pre-theater dinner and they didn't seem to know them from sea scallops,

vmratcliff Dec 2nd, 2013 03:01 PM

Joan ,it looks perfect! i've emailed Violon twice now for a Christmas Eve reservation and haven't heard from from them yet....getting a little nervous! I've had the pleasure of dining there there past two xmas eves..and enjoyed it immensely . Always try to have a late lunch there the day before coming home too...lovely last meal!

Enjoy the rest of your holiday

Vicki

Hi Joan, rather than destroy my dining for today, you've inspired me to try a little harder. It's mid morning here so I have time to put some thought into tonight's meal. Your meal looks delicious and it's so nice to see a table set properly. Here there is a huge trend for no cloths, and I miss them.

lateinlifetraveler Dec 2nd, 2013 04:34 PM

Looks marvelous.

mamcalice Dec 2nd, 2013 04:49 PM

So happy that you will, once again, inspire us with your wonderful Paris meals.

thursdaysd Dec 2nd, 2013 05:15 PM

TPAYT Dec 3rd, 2013 06:46 AM

Love your food photos Those scallops look delicious.

Forget the naysayers. There are more Fodorites who enjoy your posts.

gracejoan Dec 3rd, 2013 06:54 AM

Just back from a walk around some of the neighborhood to see the changes since here last. Quite a few changes.

I also stopped in to Violon to see if they could take me this evening. Same table tonight, so will have fine dining again this evening. You all know that I am fond of Violon. Can hardly beat the experience all the way around...also nearby!

Shared the pics with DH and we're drooling! Now see, I've considered going to Violon but this just closes the deal for May trip. So keep the pics coming so we will narrow more choices! Please

bramsole Dec 3rd, 2013 03:22 PM

cw Dec 3rd, 2013 04:27 PM

Somehow I always seem to look at your delicious meal photos when I'm hungry. I enjoy them a lot but may have to adjust my timing!

Have a wonderful (short) trip, this time. Look forward to following you around. And thanks for taking us with you.

tuscanlifeedit Dec 3rd, 2013 04:38 PM

I'm inspired. I will check Violin for the lunch specials when we are briefly in Paris next Sept/Oct.

I did have dinner before looking but now I want hot chocolate.

Nottingham Dec 3rd, 2013 05:16 PM

Hi Joan:

Just curious about the changes you've noticed in your neighbourhood since your last visit. Can you share a few of your observations? Thanks!

kerouac Dec 4th, 2013 08:52 AM

Oh, I think it was the same generously proportioned person posting over and over again.

jelopez33 Dec 4th, 2013 09:03 AM

Great report as usual. Please, more!

travelchat Dec 4th, 2013 11:12 AM

Enjoying - more please!

denisea Dec 4th, 2013 01:16 PM

All looks soooo good, Joan! Enjoy, enjoy! We leave in 15 days - super excited.

I say don't waste another second on the haters and nasties and what they say (removed or not). Don't give them any attention, since they desperately seem to need.

kerouac Dec 4th, 2013 02:22 PM

That is slightly amusing, in the context. ;-)

vmratcliff Dec 4th, 2013 06:54 PM

Joan:

Thanks so much for the email link..just as I saw it I received an email from Violon confirming my reservation for Xmas eve! I dont know whether is was through Mme.Constant's attention or just the normal answering order, but I am relieved! I leave here two weeks from today and arrive the following morning...I cannot wait!!

Again , thank you.....Vicki

gracejoan Dec 4th, 2013 11:58 PM

Vicki - Glad you are all set with Violon d'Ingres for Christmas Eve..Maybe a combination of your reeiving the reply..just glad you are now all set. I am sure that you will enjoy!!

Here are pics from Tuesday evening at Violon for me. Great evening. The place was hopping. I arrived about 8:15 and a couple early arrival tables and from then on all French, I think. I left about 11:15..nice, nice evening. I had not had frog legs in a very long time!

Now in London..Eurostar yesterday. I went to nearby pub "The Surprise" and had a bowl of pumpkin soup and a garden salad. Hit the spot for the evening...then early to bed..was tired. About to walk up to Kings Road and a bite of breakfast of some sort...will take camera!!

The Letos pic looks more like Paris than London. Post us some pics from Harrod's store windows. I would so love to see how they decorate for the holidays.

gracejoan Dec 5th, 2013 09:20 AM

Enjoyed your post. No I do NOT have flash pics in nice restaurants. In fact I try to be very unnoticed in my picture taking. I would not hold a plate up to take a picture of it! My camera is far from being anything fancy or expensive. And you are very correct in the lack of art..just simple pics for those who seem to enjoy them.

Yes, Letos does look like it must be in Paris!

Sorry, but I am heading back to Paris tomorrow and will not be able to get pics of Harrod's. I have an early Christmas celebration tomorrow evening in Paris.
