Back to the OP's question - The location is great.
If you click on the photo on the first page, there are MORE PHOTOS, including of the kitchen and bath. It looks clean, neat and well-provisioned in a good locale. The price is reasonable for the season for four people. Reviews are good. If you want to spend more, you can find other places. Go. Enjoy! |
And there you have it, Continental Drifter totally ignores the issues and says, 'the pictures are nice'.
I'm not anywhere near having a stroke cynthia. I happen to be someone who regularly rents houses and apartments for months at a time. Airbnb hosts would love to have my business but they don't get any of it. I don't do business with people and companies who knowingly permit and abet illegal enterprises. Nor do I do business with individuals who knowingly rent illegally. None of you have found anything to say that refutes any of the evidence of the issues, you all just ignore them. |
No, what I ignored was the libel that was occurring.
|
OP - That apartment does look like a lovely - and an abundance of 5* reviews - if I'm ever in Paris and need that sized place I'd certainly be seriously considering it!
And Sojourntraveller, I believe you are just choosing to ignore mine and others valid opinions about the matter. I would bet you that you most certainly do do business with people/companies who knowingly do illegal things, you just don't know it and don't see the need to check out every person/company you do business with to ensure they are complying with the law. That is how I feel about airBnB - it's not my responsibility. Oh - and as to why they might not want to list on gites-en-france even if they are legal? Easy - one has to pay to be listed and go through the rigmarole of being inspected and classified. If you can list on other sites such as AirbBb where the renter pays the fee and then rely on good reviews from people who stay with you why would you pay gites-de-france? Like you said, it's all about the money! My point about there only being 47 rentals is that is all that are listed on gites-de-france. You're telling people that EVERY legal apartment is listed there and that's patently just not true. One wonders if you have some sort of financial interest in gites-de-france, which is almost certainly suffering from the rise of AirBnB. Hmmm. |
Repeating the same points over and over and over is not helpful. People read the points, ponder them, and make their own decisions.
Going on and on about one's position does not convince anyone; it just alienates those who might otherwise take the arguments seriously. |
As the proverb says, "There's none so blind as those who will not see".
|
I think that there are many "blind people" who will not see this thread at all - sadly, they are the ones who would benefit the most from it.
My apologies again to the OP, since this thread has wandered far away from where she intended it to go. I was hoping that someone would be courageous enough to open a new thread, instead. This is a subject that warrants discussion and debate, but not at emmamarie's expense. Again, my apologies, and I hope she found someplace suitable for her stay. I'm not going to start a new thread, simply because nobody wants to hear my opinion. However, I'll be more than happy to contribute... |

Under present regulations most private apartments for rent in Paris are in fact being rented illegally. This has been ignored by officals for many years.. BUT that is going to change as now the vacancy rate for LOCALS is just so low.. An apartment owner can make a lot more money renting to a tourist for a week at a 1000 euros.. then a local who would normally be expecting to pay no more then 2000 euros a month for same space..
Nukesafe there are plenty of cheap hotels in Paris for those who know where to look . I rarely spend more then 120 euros a night.. and often under 100.. and get a/c , central areas..and go in high season. |
http://www.eurocheapo.com/paris/ someone posted this today and it is great for budget travelers.
