Paris, a few notes

Samartine: The green light has been given . Work will start in 2011 but puts an end to
the hopes of some who wanted it restored to its original glory. It will have house shops aimed at the general public, including a convenience grocery store, offices. a hotel, a center forconferences and international meetings and 7,000sq.m. of social housing.

Musee de l'Orangerie: It is offering a long-trem musical installation to illustrate a permanent collection. Every Saturday 10:30am to 1:30pm and at 4:30 to 6pm in the
two rooms displaying the Nymphias.
"this original experience allows us to combine different sensory experiences and to discover Monet's masterpiece with another eyeoor should we say ear? "

The city's first charity shop i(n the Bastille neighborhood) offers exclusive designer items at low cost, a bookstore with books donated by publishers and the public,
a notions store, a children's section surrounded by a home decoration space and a tempting restaurant serving reginal produce. Profits go to a humanitarian
association that works with children in Madagascar.

Thanks for the notes, cigale! That Bastille charity shop sounds interesting. So does the music installation at the Orangerie.

Oooh, the 1000 buildings book looks interesting too. But I don't see the book you mentioned on that link?

Thanks, Cigale. I'll be there in 3 weeks, and planned to go to Orangerie. Maybe I'll go on Sat.
Or maybe not - it might be too crowded!

Mimi, making note of the "first charity shop" - our fine charity thrift shops in NYC are a way of life for many of us! Now I can extend that to Parigi next time I go.

I would love to have the Laduree bag with the French bulldog.

The New York Times just published a list of restaurant reco's in the Globespotters column by a man who is restaurant critic and former fashion writer.
