We will also be in Paris from 4/10-4/15/03. Staying in the 7th. travling with my husband and 22 yr old daughter.
We are from CA. First timers to Paris.
How about you?

knoble Mar 11th, 2003 07:43 PM

We, too, are first timers from California. I've picked up some great cafe/bistro recommendations - do you have any ideas? We'll be in Brussels on the 13th, but have not made any other firm plans, so we're pretty open.

pumpkin Mar 11th, 2003 07:46 PM

will arrive on the 9th-good to meet others until the 14th. Have delightful 18 year old female (daughter)

knoble Mar 11th, 2003 07:52 PM

Pumpkin, where are you from, have you been before, and do you have any recommendations? This could really be fun.

travling Mar 11th, 2003 10:27 PM

To KNOBLE and PUMPKIN. I just have to know what part of CA are you from?
We are close to the San Francisco area,
called the East Bay. We are flying out of San Francisco airport on the 9th and arrive on the 10th. Where are you all staying in Paris. Which districts?
What are you MUST-DO's? while there? Ours is the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre,
A Seine river boat trip and a day trip to Mont Saint Michel. Let's try to meet one day while we are all in the same place at the same time. It will be lots of fun.

knoble Mar 12th, 2003 08:43 PM

Hi TRAVLING! We're from Folsom, just outside Sacramento, on the way to Lake Tahoe. I have so many must-sees: your first three (we opted for Brussels and Versailles rather than Mont St. Michel, which will have to wait until next time), Musee d'Orsay, Musee Carnavalet (history of the City of Paris), Sacre Couer (we're both Amelie fans), Puces de Paris-Saint Ouen (Clingancourt flea market), Place des Vosges, and lots of cafe sitting in between. We're staying in the 9th, which I'm not wild about, but we're close to the Metro, so I think we'll be fine. One of the eateries that is a must for me is Angelina's -- they do afternoon tea, are supposed to have the best hot chocolate in the world, and are close to the Louvre. We have less than a month to wait!

travling Mar 12th, 2003 09:44 PM

Dear KNOBLE: Small world, isn't it?
We live in Antioch, you've probably heard of it? My daughter also wants to do the flea markets and I've read so much about ANGELINA'S that it is also a must! It seems we will be on the same paths while in Paris. Perhaps we will bump into each other and say Hello.
Have a lovely trip! Susan

I've also heard about angelina's do you have the address/location - will be there 4/17 - 4/25 thanks

mclaurie Mar 13th, 2003 04:11 PM

Angelinas is at 226 Rue de Rivoli on the right bank. A great website is www.pagesjaunes.fr/ This is the yellow pages. You can look up addresses & even see photos of the building you're looking for. There's also a link to a restaurant guide where you can choose by budget, location etc. Hope you all have a wonderful time.

In addition to the wonderful hot chocolate at Angelina, try their Mont Blanc, a heavenly confection of meringue, chestnut puree, and whipped cream! As you may know, Angelina used to be called Rumplemayer's, and more than one black and white movie scene has been filmed there!

Beatchick Mar 14th, 2003 08:00 PM

Mmmm, I had the Mont Blanc & le Africain my last trip - and plan to do the same this trip. TOODIEFOR!

Grandmere, is that you, Sue? If so, you were the wonderful person who suggested the above to me last year. Many, many, many, many thanks.

MaryC

grandmere Mar 15th, 2003 06:35 AM

Yes, Mary C, I am Sue; funny (but not surprising!) I should be recognized for my love affair with Le Mont Blanc!

It's also interesting how we're piecing together "who was who" on the unregistered site! Nice to hear from you!

Lee2313 Mar 15th, 2003 07:09 AM

Knoble: I also will be in Paris with 15 yr. old daughter Apr. 11-15th & would love to meet up with you. How about picking a time & place for Sat. Apr. 12th?

knoble Mar 20th, 2003 08:41 PM

Hello Lee 2313, Susan, Pumpkin, and anyone else who is still braving a trip to Paris with a kid, how about meeting up on Saturday, April 12 at 7:30PM for dinner at Le Polidor, a 150-year-old bistro at 41 rue Monsieur-le-Prince, near the Odeon Metro in St-Germain-des-Pres? Having never been, I'm surely open to any other ideas. Lee, where are you from?

travling Apr 2nd, 2003 02:15 PM

To KNOBLE, PUMPKIN and all who will be in PARIS next week. We will try to meet up with you at 7:30Pm at LE POLIDOR. We are taking a bus tour to MONT ST MICHELE leaving Saturday at 6:45am and hope to be back in town for dinner. It's the only day we can fit the trip into our plans. We are so excited about the trip and can't wait.
By the way, we are from the San Francisco Bay area. Flying out of SFO on AIRFRANCE 4/9th. Hoping for no flight cancellations or interruptions due to the war. Have a great trip!

Beatchick Apr 2nd, 2003 02:32 PM

Well, I suppose I should have mentioned this earlier but I plan to be at Angelina's Monday, April 14th at 2pm if anyone would like to join me!!

Knoble, I don't have any children with me this trip but would still love to meet up with you folks then. My itinerary is kinda set in stone, but if that doesn't work out maybe we could figure out something else.

And if it makes a difference, I was born in Oakland and lived there the 1st 7 years of my life!! ; )

MaryC
[email protected]
