paris- 3 nights- 1st visit
 

we will be coming from london to end our trip with 3 nights in paris.
where should we stay?
we want to do the typical tourist things.
we are a famly of four 2 adults/ 2 children 11 & 14

What type of hotel location are you looking for - being centrally located or a "slice of Parisian life"? With only 3 days, I'd suggest staying as close to the middle of the city as possible, from which to foray out to the sites - either the Louvre area (very central, fairly quiet, more businesslike) or St. Germain (more laid back, includes the student area near the Sorbonne).

Since you're with your kids, you may want to look into staying at an "apart-hotel" such as Citadines. They lack a bit on atmosphere, but give you more flexibility than a typical hotel. I've stated this before, so apologies to those for whom this is a broken record - but in addition to the "typical" tourist things, I highly recommend the catacombs. the kids will really love it. I also think they will be most impressed with the chapel St Chappell right next to Notre Dame. the stain glass windows are just breathtaking.

We just found a problem with our hotel reservation and so ended up making a new reservation at Citadines Louvres after I posted about it to you! Our situation is 3 adults, a couple plus a sister, and we were concerned that sleeping arrangements not be awkward. So we opted for the Citadines because we know for certain that the rental is two separate sleeping spaces. That ended up being more important to us than charm...

In Paris, many hotels have small rooms - and I've also found that many have larger spaces up under the roof. (My mother and I once got a room that was about 4x more space than we needed!) For me, the issue is that you usually don't at all know what you're getting from a website description. Correspondence with the hotel (email or phone) helps enormously; otherwise you have to look for apartments or hotels that are specifically geared towards families...

During what month will you be in Paris?

My favorite hotel is the Relais du Louvre in the 1st (side street very quiet) and it has a lovely apartment.
So you'd have all the services of a hotel but the grace of some space and privacy.
Of course, one probably could get two rooms on teh same floor...

wow, $366 per night is a lot of money! A friend recommended we rent an apartment since we are travelling with kids. We just booked a one-bedroom apartment in Montmartre for our family (2 adults 2 kids) for two weeks for $160/night through VacationInParis.com. Also, yellowstay.com has better prices as well.

I have done some research and now we are staying at Hotel la Bourdonnas. We are taking a junior suite. After planning the England part of the trip, we will have 4 nights in Paris.
Ideas as to how to spend the time?
One night, we want to eat in the Effiel Tower and one night We are meeting friends for dinner. What time should we make reservations for the Eiffel Tower dinner?
What should we do the other 2 nights?
