Paris #1
What is the number 1 thing you love best about Paris.
<BR>Besides the fact that it's in France...<BR><BR>The sight of the Eiffel Tower at night.
ttt with this fun post
Grand views from top of Arc de Triomphe at sunset
The look of it.
The roof tops and chimneys (sp?)
Wandering the streets of the Marais and pretending that I live there! I love to enter a small shop to greet and be greated with "bonjour"! Who says life can't be a dream.
oh yeah, aj, I'm with you...catching glimpses of what it must be like to live there.
Sit in my favourite neighbourhood cafe in Montparnasse, sip a glass of wine, study Pariscope about what's next, and watch the people go by!<BR>As easy as that!
This is fun...more replies please!
Getting off the plane, getting the fastest taxi, checking in at hotel and then shop shop shop shop shop shop shop shop shop shop shop shop shop shop<BR>shop shop shop and more shopping...<BR>and then....getting a fabulous dinner somewhere....
The bread and the pastries.
The art, of course!
Waking up in the morning and hearing morning noises outside your window and then remembering that you're in Paris...<BR>Eating confit de canard and drinking a bottle of red wine at Le Perraudin...<BR>Wandering the streets either very early in the morning or very late at night...<BR>Peering into open coutyard and/or apartment doors...<BR>Watching workmen restore and renovate the buildings...<BR>Milling around the May Day parade...<BR>Buying all sorts of food stuff from the shops, and beer and wine from the corner store, and taking it back to your room and eating it in bed, all the while congratulating yourself for being in Paris...<BR>Hmm. I think I'd better go check my lottery ticket...;)<BR><BR><BR>
I have two things tied for number one:<BR><BR>1)Getting up early, walking through the open air markets, going into a Boulangerie, smelling the fresh baked breads and hearing, "Bonjour Madame"<BR><BR>1)Ordering a crepe chocolate from a street vendor on a cold night and sucking the melting chocolate off my finger tips! <BR>
I love the fact that many of the Parisians I have come into contact with are nothing like the "stereotype".<BR>Besides that I just love walking around and discovering places I have not seen before.
When your from a small town in Oklahoma everything in Paris is fun and different.

The very wry humor of the Parisian; the beauty of the city, the Seine, the sunsets, the difference from my own daily life.
My redheaded girl friend standing naked in front of our open hotel window with the Notre Dame spires behind her head making her look like the devil...wow!
