Palermo
Our plans for Sicily in October involve two full days in Palermo. With just two days, would our time be better used exploring the must-see sights or casually strolling through particular neighborhoods?
|
If you're including Monreale as a Palermo sight, rather than seeing it separately, that will take a half-day (don't miss Monreale), so I'd probably do a combination. I stayed at Sky Sleeping B&B, which was a ten minute walk from the center on a street that was a little neighborhood in its own right.

Strolling through neighborhoods is lovely in Venice and less so in Palermo. I'd certainly go to the Palazzo Abatellis and the Archeological Museum at least.

Hi, meggies -
I agree with Zerlina that Palermo isn't really a place for strolling through neighborhoods. But it has some wonderful things to see - I second the suggestions above, and think you'll find others if you consult guidebooks. I really enjoyed Palermo - hope you do to! |
oh I don't know...we loved strolling around Palermo...I found it entirely fascinating! SO different from everywhere else I have been in Italy (this was my first trip to Sicily) No, it is not Venice at all...but it has quite a character all to itself for sure! We were able to combine the "seeing-the sights" with the strolling without a problem really. I hope you enjoy it - we were pleasantly surprised and delighted by the city!
