Calamari, I am so glad that you found something that works for you:) If you want to splurge while in Florence, definitely go to Ferragamo. My dh bought a pair of dress shoes there and he says he really wishes he would have bought more since they were so comfortable and cost much less there than here (course that was a few years ago).

With all the shoe searching too, you would probably like their shoe museum they have. Really a fun place to go.
