If it wasn't TA but TT, its the Thorn Tree by Lonely Planet (which is where I post quite regularly, too).

I just tried to "join" TTG to see what everyone is talking about and gave up for all the promotional garbage and "surveys" they require. God knows how much spam my e-mail is going to get bombed with. Did I do something wrong or is that "inquiry" required of everyone?

You only get that the first time. After that it's a spam free life. Occasionaly when you log in it will try and flog you things (it's the Ezboard company who do this BTW not TTG). If you get that screen simply hit the back button and it will take you straight in.

I like TTG a lot (well I would say that - I'm a mod there - which is the least demanding thing I have ever signed up to)

TTG is worth looking at if only for the themed photo threads. e.g.,

Let There Be Light

Audere LOL -- We'll have to work you harder;)

There's room for all of us ... just do as the posters above suggest, scroll down and say no thanks. They do that to me occasionally too -- so it's equal opportunity.

The Paris blog looks great. Mind if we add it to the TTG blog list?

<<The Paris blog looks great. Mind if we add it to the TTG blog list?>>

No problem at all! The correct address for the blog is www.OurParisBlog.com and the correct address for the forum is www.OurParisForum.com

Thanks!

I appreciate knowing about the new travel forums. I have been a member of Slow Travel for years, almost since inception, and I have grown tired of the clubbiness there. Some of the more experienced travelers seem to spend more time on their blogs and in the anything-but-travel forums.

I have been researching my upcoming trip to France and Italy here on Fodors almost exclusively and will give these up and coming boards a look too.

Thanks again for the topic and replies. Always great to have a new travel read.

I just tried registering on TTG, but there were two options. The "Local" option seemed to restrict one to "europetogo." Am I wrong about that?

Also, they seemed to want a lot of information. Am I doing something wrong?

There are plenty of slices in the travel pie to go around! All these sites make for a great travel community and experience.

Is there a direct link to the blog of the family that is traveling aroud the world?

I think you probably are. Email me off list and I'll talk you through it, or do it for you if you want:
