Great report! Had to laugh about Hotel Olivedo in Varrena .... If it was the short old lady who gave you the hard time - you should see her in full swing during peak time. We had one of our most expensive and moderate meals there. She assumes the sale and you end up ordering everything from soup to nuts. Thankfully we did not stay there. But the next morning while waiting for the ferry, we tried to order tea from "Dumb & Dumber" as we fondly recalled them. They couldn't understand that someone not staying at the hotel would like to pay for and drink a cup of tea! Never got the tea ....

I will retain your great information on the other lakes as Como was the only one we visited.

Hi Tam,

It was the petit older woman with short dark brown or black hair. She seems to be the manager. That's funny about the cup of tea. I guess they want to sell you the whole breakfast, not just a cup of tea!

I really hated that you got sick on your lovely Italy trip & you had to eat cookies & grapes for dinner. :( But sounds like the signora took such nice care of you with the tea & honey (nothin' better). :D
