MERVskilton Aug 6th, 2006 06:33 AM

There are faster cars you could do it in?

Sarvowinner Aug 6th, 2006 07:31 AM

Hey Merv

Do you think it would be as fast as a Gondola on the Murray?

WebMeisterWally Aug 6th, 2006 02:08 PM

Sarvowinner Aug 6th, 2006 03:00 PM

superheterodyne Aug 11th, 2006 03:38 AM

Actually, if you measure the trip on Google Earth, you will find an average speed of 78 km/h. Nothing that extraordinary. And he was driving a Mercedes - the Ferrari noise is post-dubbed.

Sarvowinner Aug 11th, 2006 05:00 AM

Shucks - superheterodyne

I hate it when people let the facts get in the way of a good story (or film) ;)

Robespierre Aug 13th, 2006 06:39 AM

How do you get 78 km/h? And where did you find the post-dubbing note? According to this

http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2005/Rendezvous.shtml

he covered 11.4 km in 451 seconds. That's an average of 91 mph.

MERVskilton Aug 13th, 2006 11:40 AM

you guys are starting to get very technical.. bugger that!..how about we hire a Ferrari and bloody well try it?.. who's in?

WebMeisterWally Aug 14th, 2006 04:11 PM

Do they have speed cameras in Paris ??

Vremmi Aug 15th, 2006 03:01 PM

Merv you didn't think of that did you?

WebMeisterWally Aug 17th, 2006 06:57 AM

does anybody know if they do?

MERVskilton Aug 17th, 2006 06:49 PM

I guesss they would??

Vremmi Aug 19th, 2006 06:39 PM

how much would a Ferrari for a day caost in Paris?

superheterodyne Aug 27th, 2006 07:18 PM

Robespierre - the movie is 8 minutes 39 seconds (that's 519 seconds) long and the distance is 11,3 km, measured on Google Earth.

I don't know what the brand of your calculator is, maybe it is a vintage Pascaline that you expropriated from the clergy, however, 519 s is 0,1442 hours, that gives an average speed of 11,3/0.1442 = 78.6 km/h.

A quick look on the French name of the movie in Google will lead you to the Mercedes information.
