If this is real - this is pretty amazing and quite funny...enjoy

Scarlett Apr 5th, 2006 10:05 AM

LOL, I saw that a while back and yes, it is funny! zooooom~

cigalechanta Apr 5th, 2006 10:09 AM

That was made by Claude LeLouche who also had spectacular driving in his most popular film, "a man and a Woman."
zooooom~is right, Scarlett :)

SkiBum123 Apr 5th, 2006 10:45 AM

Couldn't see it very well - pretty dark on my computer but MAN did you see how many red stoplights he went through? No sound either.

LoveItaly Apr 5th, 2006 11:45 AM

Yikes, zooooom indeed. I have a few friends in Italy that drive almost like that, LOL. Heart attack time!!

Donnez-moi le Dramamine.

This was really cool to watch. The sound makes it though...the number of times his tires screech is unreal! But very cool to see the monuments and buildings we know and love at high speed!

cobbie Apr 5th, 2006 12:59 PM

Loved the pigeons flying up towards the end. My heart is still racing!

It reminds me of the day I had to follow a garage mechanic who was driving a Porsche back to his garage on the other side of Florence. And the reason I was asking for help was that my car (a VW Fastback) refused to downshift into second.

What a rush! Thanks for posting.

Marko Apr 5th, 2006 04:25 PM

love it !!!!! he drives like my wife !

Robespierre Apr 5th, 2006 05:38 PM

Isn't anyone going to mention what a stupid, irresponsible, dangerous thing to do it was?

(Except for the Louvre-Rivoli exit, it was actually pretty safe - he always had time to see and avoid conflicting traffic. It would have been smart to make the walkie-talkie coordination fail-safe, however.)

cigalechanta Apr 5th, 2006 05:57 PM

robespierre. the director I'm sure had it all planned out. No way would he risk his solid career.

Robespierre Apr 5th, 2006 06:00 PM

Um, I don't think so. Read the history. He asked for permission to block off the route, and was refused.

Google "C'etait un Rendezvous" (including the quotes)

cigalechanta Apr 5th, 2006 06:26 PM

Hi, Robespieere , you're right but everyone disagrees about alot of things, like he was the drivr, but one names the ace race driver, some say he was arrested the others say no. No matter Ronin, the French Connection has given most of us enough zoooooom~as scarlett would say.

ahotpoet Apr 6th, 2006 06:15 AM

When we go to Paris in 2 weeks we will rent a car to do the Giverny day trip thing. My friend insisted on the back seat. I bet she thinks this is how I will be driving. I sent her the link just to rock her world!

Scarlett Apr 6th, 2006 08:31 AM

There are camera tricks that one can use that makes things seem to be faster than they are, right?
The camera seems to have been mounted at the front of the car, changing the perspective a bit, no?
So while he might have gone the exact speed limit, it could seem that the car was flying out of control around those corners, right?
zoooooooom~

Michael Apr 6th, 2006 08:55 AM

Scarlett,

At the beginning there is a claim that there was absolutely no manipulation such as speeding up or subsequent editing.

Scarlett Apr 6th, 2006 09:05 AM

Yes, so if he was going the exact speed limit but with the sound of the motor and the camera being hood mounted, it would feel like he was going much faster-in answer to what Robespierre said.. :)

I believe that it is exactly two km. from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde. Time it and you can figure out the speed.
