Bonne idee, Joan. Thanks. AZ

kerouac....so many more resturants, streets and arrondissements than the 7th that I frequent this trip and others..I just happen to 'live' in this part of the 7th so it seems like more as living in any neighborhood does.
a bientot... Joan |
I'm loving your trip, Joan. Thanks for letting us all in on the ride!
|
My favorite thing about Joan is that she gets to spend approximately 2 months in Paris, twice a year. One day, I may be as fortunate. Joan knows exactly where she's staying, where she's dining and with whom she's socializing. This isn't a thread where the OP is asking for advice. We are happy spectators, peeking in on Joan's Parisian getaway. I'm taking notes, so my upcoming trip is as great as my first.
Just like Trophywife said, thanks for letting us all in on the ride! If some don't enjoy or agree with the route, hop off (and please don't let the door hit you in the...). ~Roberta |
Joan,
Thanks so much for the information! |
Bonjour Joan -
Are you planning on eating at La Taverna during this trip? I am wondering if it is still open - when I was in Paris in June I tried to call to make a reservation but got no answer. If you do happen to walk by the restaurant would you please post an update? I'll never forget the strawberry risotto I ate there one June evening...but the risotto at Le Florimond has been coming in a very close second lately. I don't have any plans to go to Paris until 2013 but your posts are getting me thinking...and scheming. Thanks again for sharing your trip with us all. -Debra |
The one and only comment I made was about turkey, simply because a duck thanksgiving would be so much better. :-p (perhaps preceded by a plateau de fruits de mer...)
|
Debra...Yes, La Taverna is open. In fact there is an evening with photos and all when Florent, Michael and I went there. They had not been and they did enjoy. I was just thinking of them and of going again.I will stop by there today maybe.
Kerouac...I agree about the duck and plateau de fruits de mer...but tradition is tradition.! I have been to some 20 or so different and some new to me restaurants this trip. Did not realize so many until I started thinking about it. I do have some more to get to, hopefully. a bientot... Joan |
Just passed Pottaka today and felt guilty we didn't visit this trip. Joan had spoken so highly of them. Then passed P'tit Troquet and felt guilty I had not returned--they had been so kind to me and my daughters on past trips.
Therefor, strictly from a moral stance, I should return to Paris within a fortnight. |
Debra,
I did walk by La Taverna today. They are closed for lunch on Saturday and closed on Sunday. a bientot... Joan |

I think my plans are changing a bit. I need to come back to Paris late January, so think I will just stay on for a couple months at that time instead of going home and then returning mid March. Seeme to make more sense. Last year March was very mild and April was hot. I was here in April. Then it got cold in mid summer..so who knows the weather anymore.
I do some some more pics to post and will get to them. Have friends arriving both Thursday and Friday.. Denise and Chaz left today... Weather still holding up.... a bientot... Joan |
Will coming back so soon put you over a 90 day stay within 6 months?
Happy to hear about the weather....we plan to be there this time next year! |
Joan,
Le Casse Noix was superb. Husband pronounced it his favorite of this trip. However, he still told me to buy daughter "season pass" to Violon d'Ingres. Agree that you should stay on Paris ground as our cub reporter for as long as possible. Leaving tomorrow, AZ |
Indeed, the weather has become totally unpredictable. November has been one of the warmest in history (and even so, not all that great). If ever December turned out to be like last December, it would snow for half of the days of the month!
|
I'm glad to hear the weather is still a warmer than normal. I could use a warmer December visit to Paris as last year was windy and colder than usual. Our son & fiancé just returned and said the weather was wonderful and most days he didn't require a jacket. How nice!
Safe travels AlessandraZoe! @ Joan, I've emailed Schmidt L'Obe through the hotel website but I am not having any luck with responses yet. Lunch or dinner? Do you recommend one over the other? |
BeachGirl,
You have not heard from l'obe or Schmidt l'os a Moelle? I have to call Schmidt for a reservation, so with ask. AZ..glad you also liked Casse Noix...I am going to Violon d;Ingres for lunch today..wlked by earlier and decided I need it! Went in and made a reservation with Alexandre..must get ready to go.... a bientot.. Joan |
Joan, I sent both emails to the hotel website's email address and directed one to the concierge and one to reservations.
I'll send another one today as it's not a problem. If no answer I'll have AMEX call to make the reservation for me since my int'l dialing isn't turned on yet. |

Just to confirm that you are aware that these are two different restaurants. l'Os a Moelle is in the 15th and l'Obe is at the Hotel Crillon. |
