Ribierasacra, the wines of that area must indeed be worthy of sampling if you're partial enough to them to have taken them as your posting moniker. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll include the idea in the rest of my trip planning if I ever get beyond Rioja here.

Hi Julie,
Ahah! Between your review of the 1860 (which hadn't open yet when we dined at Paniego) and my notes, the two of us should have Riscal covered! I knew there was to be an alternative restaurant upstairs, but now we'll have a full review for the Fodors archives.

Although the Galicia wines do deserve their own thread, here are a few whites that we enjoy and that you might want to try from your restaurants' wine lists in Galicia:

Rias Baixas:

Pazo de Señorans
Fillaboa
Santiago Ruiz
Sanamaro '05 (from Pazo San Mauro)
Organistrum (from Martín Códax)

Ribeiro:
Viña Mein

There are adegas (wineries) galore that can be visited in both the Rías Baixas and the Ribeiro D.O.s The tourist offices there will have the maps & opening hrs.
I don't know about English tours, however.

I'm not well versed on the Ribeira Sacra wines, so I'll leave that topic to those who live there!!

BTW, if you prefer a white Rioja, I like the Muga, the Heredad Ugarte Martín Cendoya (malvasía grape) and the Baigorri blanco fermentado en barrica (barrel-fermented).

My friend had to drink whites only on our Easter trip, so we girls got to share a bottle of white, leaving the guys with the red.

Now, back to your Rioja planning!

It is a shame that this form does not allow PMs. Yes I do live in the area known as the Ribeira Sacrá.
One day Maribel you have to come and stay at my house and I will introduce you to the area then hopefully you can write one of your famous guides about lower Galicia. I personally do not like white wines so I am happy living in the middle of a predominantly red wine area. English is not so widely spoken so sometimes it depends on who is on duty. But then I could do tours…but I am not a licence tourist guide.
I can post a few suggested bodegas around here too if anyone is interested. Ask on anther thread about Galicia, as I could be highjacking this one, sorry.

Here is a link to a photo of some wine terraces near where I live. The land is a bit steep!

Here is a link to some information about the Do, in Spanish.

Nice links, Ribeira Sacra. I would very much like to come up to your Casa and stay for a while on our next journey through Galicia! We don't know the R.S. well at all, and you can introduce us to it. Some time in the near future!

Thank you.
