NY-Paris Airfares for November

R/t airfare is down to $402 for Thanksgiving week. Does anyone have any insight on whether I should buy tix, or wait in hopes of lower fares? TIA!

Taxes included? I'd go for it, but I'm sure there're people who'll tell you to wait.

Take it. It won't get lower than that.

I'd buy it. In May we paid $350 r/t for the same week thanks to an Air France sale. I agree w/others, I doubt it'll go lower. Good luck.

Hi Sadie,

Will you be more disappointed if the price goes down $50 or up $100?

LilyLace Aug 16th, 2004 08:53 AM

I would buy now.

In any case, doesn't the airline give a voucher if you see that the fare goes down? Your risk that the fare goes lower seems mitigated by this.

I don't think that they do this for discounted, non-refundable, non-cancellable tickets. Am I wrong?

111op Aug 16th, 2004 09:10 AM

That I'm not sure. Well, I did ask for my ticket for Paris for Labor Day weekend, and they promised a voucher if the fare went down. I think that my ticket is non-refundable (presumably) -- changes are $200 per segment.

This was on AA. The ticket was $670, or something. Not cheap, but it was the cheapest I could find -- I assume that it was the most restrictive as well.

By the way, I bought the ticket directly from AA -- not sure what would happen if you buy from Orbitz or its equivalent.

Hi 111,

I think that if you pay $670, they'll be nice to you, but not for $402. :)

111op Aug 16th, 2004 09:28 AM

Well ira, but I'm leaving in September. :-) You know how weird the airfare structure is. What I mean is that the underlying restrictions for the 670 and the 402 are probably the same -- the difference in price is more due to the season than to anything else. I could be wrong though.

SadieM Aug 17th, 2004 05:04 AM

Thanks so much. I think I'll go ahead and purchase--and then not let myself check airfares anymore, lest it goes down. I probably wouldn't mind if it went down $50--but $100 would bum me out. Just wanted some advice--have never gone that time of year before, and wasn't sure what to expect.

111op Aug 17th, 2004 05:07 AM

I think that it'd be very unlikely to get a fare for $302 (down $100 from $402). In any case, as I mentioned, check to see if the airline will issue a voucher if that's the case -- it doesn't hurt to ask.

Buy it. You have already missed the BA sale for that time period. That is a good fare.
