Hi Kristina - see: https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...asgow-1654939/
I'm especially interested in places to stay in Dundee and Glasgow, can't decide between the station area or West End in Glasgow. If I were just doing Scotland your pass would obviously be the best option, but I'll be spending more time in England than Scotland. |
>>I should definitely plan to eat at Malmaison.<<
:( it closed last year. (same room - totally different restaurant now) |
it closed last year. |
Thursdaysd- I see you going to take the sleeper train. You might get lucky and end up on one of the brand new trains! If so, I'd love to hear about it. Will you be getting a sleeper compartment?
|
No, I'm on the old train, which is a little cheaper. I booked a first class sleeper so I could use the lounges - I'm hoping for a shower at Edinburgh station before going on to Dundee. I'm buying a senior rail card, so I got 34% off the last of the cheapest rates for that train and class (booking nearly three months out). Have wanted to ride this train for a while, also the Night Riviera to Cornwall, but probably not this trip.

I really liked this report. Makes me want to go back to Scotland. Thanks.

Kristina,
Did you bring any whisky home to the US and if so, any problems and how did you pack it? Kate |
katherinebw-We bought 2 bottles of Gin and 1 bottle of Whisky which went into our checked luggage. These went into big zip lock bags into the center of our luggage (22" rolling bags) cushioned by clothes and made it home just fine. We also bought a bottle of whisky in duty free which we carried onto the plane.
