@cheska15 - agree with kja - great attitude. It would be so boring - not to mention even more crowded - if we all liked the same places. Good that the TA turned you on to independent travel! It took me two tours to Asia (one good one with the Smithsonian and one bad one with OAT) before I started traveling in Asia on my own.

Also agree with mikelg unless you have a car and do a lot of day trips. For instance, I had no trouble filling two full days in Pamplona, which I liked cery much (also the scenery on the bus ride from SS) but a third might have been problematic unless I were just chilling. BTW don't miss the museum - wonderful Roman mosaics.

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions. I have taken onboard nearly everything lol. Thank goodness we have a long weekend here as I can plan a second Iteniary.
We like the idea of day trips and returning to the same base at night so thanks for the ideas. I would rather plan to stay in a place a little longer and take a day trip somewhere than have a grumpy DH. I just have to be careful that a) I don't try and squeeze everything in b) that we both get the sort of holiday that we want.
Once we decide on the Iteniary and after the research I'm sure I will be back with further questions.

Yes base cities and easy -easy day trips from it are great.
