Capo - I'd hate to play you at Trivial Pursuit

Jacks - Refering perhaps to the ancient Roman game which i played as a kid (although nowhere near as ancient as the Romans) which involved bouncing a little ball and picking up 10 little objects before the ball bounced a certain number of times. (God, the things that amused us in the days before Nintendo and the Internet!).

Regards ... Ger

Oooh I just got a brain zap: There's a pickupsticks sort of game like jacks, but it's called dibstones. It's played with pebbles i/o those little spikey metal things; we used to call it dibbsies (we also played it with small shells at the beach).

Capo--clearly you are a gold mine just awaiting exploitation. Here's my offer. I'll pay you a handsome modelling fee plus generous royalties if you will consent to pose for my planned "Hunks of Fodors" pinup calendar. Originally I thought of making you Mr. June (hence the centerfold, natch) but perhaps it should be March, June, September and December, so your legions of fans here can enjoy The Four Seasons of Capo? What do you say? I see a fortune to be made here--we could both retire and spend the rest of our lives traveling! ;->

really? Aug 27th, 2001 07:55 AM
Lots of ladies here carry on about Capo and his looks . . . has anyone actually seen him? I enjoy his posts. I'm wondering now if he's really homely instead of cute.

As a relative "newbie", I have to admit it was the regulars who kept me coming back, just to read their posts and responses to questions. Here's hoping I don't forget anyone:
Capo - he makes me laugh with his "punny" zingers
Kavey - so nice to everyone
Beth A - my hero(ine)!!!
Mr. Ben Haines - an old-school gentleman
Rex - very helpful
John G - helpful and unique, has his finger on the pulse of style
Leone,Leslie, Sheila, St. Cirq, Escritora, Wes Fowler,Patrick,Surlok,Elvira, Book Chick, Elaine, Thyra,Carol - all people with interesting tales to tell and the generosity to help strangers.
If I've forgotten anyone, it's not a slight - I'm fasting for bloodwork in the morning and I desperately want (need) caffeine right now!!!
ja

Shain Jan 25th, 2002 04:29 PM

Hi out there,
I'm glad to find my way to this special place. And to all the people who have these tremendous answers to much more questions. IT's just great to be part of this positive and educating community !
Shain/Germany/Düsseldorf

Thyra Jan 25th, 2002 04:34 PM

While admittedly getting a bit put off by some of the hostility... I still find gems, and the newbies are always encouraging. It's Friday and nearly quitting time, which is THE nicest thing I can think of right now :)
bbbb Jan 25th, 2002 05:12 PM

this just cracks me up!!! the nasty ones all wanna stroke each other. Lets have a group hug. what are you smokin if you think the "regulars" are so nice and wonderful - they are the pompous and arrogant ones!
I've toned them down about with my remarks - and by obliging them with REAL "stupid" questions!

amy Jan 25th, 2002 05:44 PM

Mimi and PBProvence--thanks bunches.

Carol Jan 25th, 2002 11:50 PM

Let hear it for all of the older (not age) and newcomers to the Forum. Sounds kinda stuip I know, but I have had a great time answering and asking for info on this forum. It has been a great past time.

Not to many Kudo's to the nasy people who post under different names. Tsk, Tsk, - use your real names, everyone is entitled to a bad day or two.

Keep the positive up. LOVE IT

bbbb Jan 26th, 2002 02:27 AM

Carol, SOOOO WELLL SAID!!!!!! Please repeat your message about writing under an assumed name!!!!!!!! I'm sure Grumble, Capo, Elvira, Rex, Grasshopper, are all their REAL names. I'm I'm sure that all the other posters are using their real names. and I'm sure dick cheney and others have been on here posting. Oh and Carol - How many times do you think Capo, Rex, Grasshopper, others, and yourself use the good ole xxxx name when you yourselves don't want to let the cat outta the bag.How many times do all of you use the xxx name or the [email protected] email so you can post a mean nasty message without soiling your "clean" name on the board!!!?????!!!!!
So go ahead and SIGN out of your "carol" name and return here to post a message as "susan" defending "carol".
