azzure : i m sorry for the miss-spelling my bad.. in indo we use singlish :p
update : Wont be getting our visas till around 3rd week Sept.. so our trip is postponed. We have rebooked all the reservations, will arrive in Rome 1st week of Oct Taken out Amsterdam, coz we have to cut trip shorter.. oct is busy month.. 1-3 : Rome 4-7 : Florence n Tuscany area 8-9 : Venice 10-12 : Lauterbrunnen 13-15 : Barcelona 16-19 : Paris 20-23 : London Haha 7 cities left now >.<, compared to our first itinerary 13 cities :p |
we fell in love with lauterbrunnen while doing Swizterland research.. gezz too beautifull.. green valleys, waterfalls, lakess.. what a God's creation!!
|
Excellent on cutting down the cities!
Are you still looking for comments on the itinerary? If you are, I would cut out Barcelona, because it takes you out of your way. |
I agree that Barcelona is out of the way. I'd cut Barcelona, add extra time to Venice, and stop off either in the Dolomites or Austria (Innsbruck works well by train) on the way to Lauterbrunnen. (BTW, you might want to stay off the valley floor in somewhere like Murren.)
|
That is a better itinerary. good luck with the visas and with the trip!
|
sam86 : i dont think i cant take out any of the cities ahhaha.. dan this will be our final fixed itinery, as we have booked the hotels (though is not prepaid, but i don't want to hassle changing all the bookings again :D)
thursdaysd : yes its outta the way.. but we must go there ahha why not stay in the valley floor? i think it has the best view, when u stay in the bottom of the valley surrounded by those huge cliffs. please advice. |
For the transportation i am arranging it as follows :
-Rome to Tuscany (Florence) to Venice : by car (rent car from Rome, and return it on Venice) -Venice to Milan(stopover) - Lauterbrunnen : by train -Lauterbrunnen - Barcelona : by night train -Barcelona - Paris : by night train -Paris - London : by eurostar Is this correct ? Please advice me.. thanks again all :D |
Meihan86 - Fair enough. I would've suggested substituting a Swiss city like Geneva maybe for Barcelona so it would be closer to your other stops, but of course it is ENTIRELY your decision!
The trains sound fine, as long as you have found schedules for them online! Best of luck for the visa and have a great trip! |
sam86 : yea but we prefer the mountain side of switz rather than the cities :) i know Lauterbrunnen - Barcelona would need so many train changes/stops, still trying to figure out the best train connections between the 2 :p thanks for your comments tho :)
|
Meihan, good luck and have fun with your adventure. Barcelona is a great city. Are you coming back with a trip report? :D
|
I have a great idea for a first line.
"Ha ha, all you naysayers. We had a great time." :D Okay, you're much to kind for that and that must be why people were happy to help you. Blessings on your trip, A naysayer. |
With the number of locations all in a short stay in each you may wnat to consider a multi country Euro pass this will leave it flexible if you change your mind. If you choose you can get reservations on specific trains once your there.
If you choose this do not forget to vlidate on fiorst day or they wil change you for that specific train at ful price. I belive you can just get in US. |
Lsky : yes i ll try writing trip report when its all over :) u just blessed our trip so u couldn't be one of those naysayers could u haha. Oh does it still sound like an adventure? I think my itinery should be in the "more relaxed" category by now ahhaha.
|
woopsss i meaan "my itinerary" *gazes @azzure* :p
|
Meihan83 - you're right about a lot of train connections between Lauterbrunnen and Barcelona. How are you managing it? What are the stops on the way?
|
@ Meihan83
How about a big THANK YOU to all who did help??? |
Willem46 : yes still comparing point-to-point fares n the select pass..
Need advice bout the train : 4 countries (excl. UK) Italy - Switz - Spain - France Should i buy the 3 country pass or 4 county pass? The last train ride i will take is from Barcelona (to Paris) and in France i wont be using the pass anymore Does this count as 3 countries or 4 countries? |
Yes THANK YOU all!!
This planning has been fun ahah But this is not finished yet..not until the trip is over :) |
Get the four country pass because when you are going from Lauterbrunnen to Barcelona, you will be going through France and changing at at least one stop, for example, Lyon or Montpellier.
|
I started out as a naysayer. I was agreed going to Lourdes so you can pray. Obviously, you've done that :) I have to admire you, you took a lot of flak and came back smiling. Welcome to Fodors.
One person’s “relaxed” is another’s “whirlwind” - reminds me of a song: “As we sped around the world To see what we could see I saw you and you saw me mostly…” October is a pretty time to travel, imo. |
