New & lost at fodors

THis is a very helpful site but is there a special way to keep track of the question one asks? Also, do you think this is could become an addiction?

maxie Apr 18th, 2003 11:35 AM

This is very much an addiction! I had no idea, no one warned me from the beginning that I would need a Fodor's fix every day.
Try doing a search on the title of your post. If it isn't deleted it should pop up.
Remember, I warned you!

Anonymous Apr 18th, 2003 11:36 AM

Yes, it can become an addiction.

To see a list of all the threads that you've participated in, just click on your name in the top-left corner of the page (next to "Welcome"). Or you can do a search on the title or other unique phrase, but I'm not sure how often the search function is updated.

Before the click-on-you-name feature was added, yet another way to keep track was to select an unusual county (Coratia, Ukraine) as a keyword, then later you could search on that!

Thanks Anonymous - that name thing is great. I didn't know that.

If you click on your name you get a list of all your postings on all forums. If you type your name in the text search window you get a list of your postings only on this forum. Very convenient.

This "could become an addiction"? Aren't you addicted already :)

Yes

Hello, my name is Scarlett and I am addicted to Fodors:)

Welcome Denise ~

It is really scary how addictive this site is...if you are not already addicted, I suggest you run as fast as you can away from this site, else you will become ONE OF US!!!

PamSF Apr 18th, 2003 01:29 PM

it's the next best thing to being "there"

Perhaps some search problems come about because people select an odd country that isn't applicable to the post, as someone suggested. I wasn't aware people would do that, but I don't think it's a good idea because anyone searching for that information will never find the post, most likely, if they select the right country for the subject. So you may find your own post if you start it under Luxembourg, if it's really about London, but the info won't be that useful to others in the future.

Now that you can click on your own name, it's real easy.

I'm definitely addicted to this site. Need it every day. It's the best way to travel between actual trips. Thank you all of you for the great tips.

Is there a 12 step program for Fodorites? Starts like this. Hello, my name is chrisp and i'm an addict. La La La....I'm an ADDICT. No way... First there is denial.......I can quit when ever I want to.......The grass needs mowing and I'm here....But what would you rather do?

Marilyn Apr 18th, 2003 04:14 PM

You guys consider once a day an addiction? Hah!

chrisp Apr 18th, 2003 07:03 PM

Yea but for some of us ONCE starts at 7am and ends at 10pm...sometimes longer..after all we have to cover many time zones. *LOL*

Fun for a year or so, then a few decided to make it all very personal, and the site changed. Now we register, thankfully! Can't quite imagine being here as addictive, but I suppose that's true for some. I still find the site helpful for planning some trips, and for all the help, I am most appreciative.

This is the very best kind of addiction because it is fun, legal and rewarding to get innocents "hooked" too. Then you can discuss Fodor's instead of the world situation and/or your kids, etc.

I do not have a clue how I could have made my first trip to Europe last November without Fodor's. What terrific people and a wonderful learning experience. I did not think I would be back "on" when I returned; however, I just picked a new area for my next (I hope) trip, and I'm back in full addictive style.

Enjoy every moment!
