We have stayed at Pensione Panda (http://www.hotelpanda.it/) in Rome (near the Spanish Steps).

In Florence, we used the B&B Peterson (http://www.bedinflorence.it/home.htm)

Venice, we stayed at the Hotel Bernardi(http://www.hotelbernardi.com/), which we found good in terms of value for money and location. Its near the Rialto, and within walking distance to Piazza San Marco.

dcd: thanks for your suggestion about Daphne Veneto. we were lucky to get one of the last double rooms in Daphne Veneto and 160E per night during May is not that bad and as you said we get 10% if we pay by cash. So its $168, better than Nicholas.

we were initialy thinking of staying in Nicholas but they only had 2 nights available for us, thanks to you we are staying in Daphone now at a lower rate !!

we are almost done with our hotel booking in ITALY, thanks to you all.

Rome - Daphne Inn Veneto
Florence - Proconsolo
Venice - Casa Cosmo
Paris _ Hotel De France Invalides.

we are yet to book hotles in Switzerland.

we might stay in Des aples in Luzerne for a day but we need your help to find a good hotel ( under $160 per night) in Berner Oberland area.

we would like some recommendations for hotles in Wengen, Lauterbrunnen. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Wanderlust125, we have stayed twice at Hotel Staubbach in Lauterbrunnen. About a 5 minute walk from the train station and a fantastic view of the Falls. Ask for a south facing room (view of the falls) and a private bath. If I remember it's around 100 USD (in sept. anyway). Typical continental b'fast.

have a quick question on PARIS hotel...

we have booked Hotel De france, invalides for 5 nights in Paris. When I spoke with a friend of mine, he was telling that area near Eiffel tower is not so good at night and since Hotel De france to close to Eiffel tower the surroudings may not be good. yes he has been to Paris but each person idea of GOOD hotel defers.

I wanted to know if any of you have stayed in HOTEL DE FRANCE invalides and what was it like? is the hotel decent? ( we are getting to stay at 98E a night) how is the hotel surronding? is it safe to walk around in that area late in the evening ( not planning to venture out after 10 any ways!!).

Any comments on this hotel will be really helpful for us. we have already made reservations for 5 nights at this hotel. Based on your comments and suggestion we might decide to cancel our reservation and book at another hotel. So please give us some suggestion on this hotel and its surroundings!!

Here is the address of the hotel

HOTEL DE FRANCE INVALIDES
102, boulevard de La-Tour-Maubourg 75007 Paris

Thanks again
