Ned to be at Heathrow by 630am. Best way from central London?

When we leave London, our flight is at 930am from Heathrow. I believe they want a three hour check in. We are staying at a home equidistant from Marble Arch and Hyde Park Corner tube stops. What is the most efficient way to get to the airport that early? What time does the tube start running if we decide to walk to Hyde Park Corner? Does it make sense to get to Paddington (how?) and take the Heathrow Connect? (I hate to pay for the Express..I am too cheap.) Would a cab to Paddington be hard to get at that hour?

I hate morning flights!!!

One more thought. A car service? any suggestions? What may rates be for that?

At that time in the morning the traffic would be very light - I'd book a car service. Should run less than £30 door to door.

What service can you recommend?

historytraveler Dec 31st, 2008 12:38 PM

I'd do exactly the same...book a car service.

Well - justairports is practically the "Official Fodorite car service" :) Not really, but they do seem to have the best rates and there is a discount if you pay cash.

if you book and pay cash, how do they guarantee it? Deposit? they are a lot cheaper. i looked at the website..looks good!

(I hate to pay for the Express..I am too cheap.)

How cheap? Hyde Park Corner Tube is on the Piccadilly line that goes straight to Heathrow. The first train from there is at 0550, arriving Terminals 1-2-3 station at 0635. If you're going to T4, you'll want the 0556 that arrives at 0641.

If you want more of a comfort factor (and I don't think it will be necessary at that hour), you'll have to get the 0528 from Hammersmith that arrives at 0600.

If you've got an Oyster card, the fare will be £2 from HPC, or £1 from Hammersmith.

If it just 2 adults, I'd take a car service at that hour, without question.

I use justairports all the time with a cash booking, and I've never had to pay a deposit.

how do they guarantee what? That they show up?

Even if you used a credit card, you needn't pay in advance.

hi I would book into one of the hotels near the airport for the last night then use the hopper bus or a taxi much easier to control your arrival

Take the tube.

Thank you for the help. I decided to book Just Airports. I wouldn't have thought of it if I hadn't asked for help, so I really appreciate it!!
