Bob, A report that, in my opinion, is as close to perfect as you can get.
Welcome home. |
Bobthenavigator, very interesting report. I know you favor driving in much of Italy, but do you think a Sicily trip is feasible and enjoyable if one chooses not to drive there?
|
Grazie Kane--them are nice words !
Will, I am not really sure. I do know that train travel is very feasible between Messina, Cefalu, Palermo and I think for Palermo to Agrigento. Sorry, just not checked out further. |
Sally, with only a week I would stay in the northern loop that includes Taormina, Cefalu, and end in Palermo. Try to do a day trip to Etna from Taormina and plan on 3 days in Palermo. Good luck !
|
topping for Leana !
|
Sally, Your other good option is to stay in the Catania area and day trip in 3 directions to Taormina, Siracusa, and Piazza Armerina--all lees than 2 hours drive time.

Here is a photo gallery to add to my report.

Topping Bob's report

Grazie Starrsville !

Great report and beautiful pics! The weather looked amazing. I can't wait to get back there and explore more! I may pop in for a daytrip next month from my family's town in Calabria.
|
Bob,
Your photos are simply beautiful. Molto bene! |
Bob,
Thank you for another great trip report. I don't mind you insulting my intelligence, I'm eager to read what ever you think is important. Only six variations, that's damn near standardized. |
Thanks gang !
Henry, I had counted 9 on a previous trip--never ceases to amaze me. |
As I mentioned on your photo post - Great report & fantastic pictures.
Thanks |
Thanks to all ! Sicily is unique.
|
Bob,
Thanks so much for sharing your photos and report. What was your most favorite and least favorite experience of your entire Sicily trip? --Betty |
Bob, Thanks for a great report. I'd love to repeat your trip soon!! We spent a week at the Villa Schuler three years ago, with about 14 family members.Great location and loved the terrace breakfasts. Elevator was just being installed while we were there, so we developed those leg muscles. We never got to Palermo as I had a case of Palermo fear, but you have given me courage. Thanks.
|
Hmmm ! Tough question Betty.
The worst part was driving in Siracusa when the alternator belt broke on our rental car and we lost power steering and AC. We got a new car the next day, and automatic at that. The best part is easy. Enjoying 15 days of beautiful weather in a spectacular setting with my lovely travel companion of 46 years. She is a delight to travel with, always congenial, never needs a rest stop, and can actually read a map. Susan makes it all worth while. |
Lovely photos, Bob, and lovely Words of appreciation about Susan.
|
Grazie Linda--she is deserving !
