Roger: This trip sounds better than buying a "red porsche"(middle age crazy stuff). Did your wife even consider going? I am probably missing the point here. But the trip sounds great, unusual, but great...Have a good time and let us know how you liked the solo part....;-) Judy

Others can advise on hotels in Glasgow. But you will certainly come in to Central and go out at Queen Street. They are about 15 minutes walk apart

Bus tours of Mull are available from Oban and they include the ferry ride. I'll send details when I get home.

You could always get the ferry and use the service bus which links to the ferry times?

Judy, did the porsche thing when was 50. My wife and I have "done" GB many times together and would like to share again but it just doesn't work this year. So I am getting my fix solo, hence the unusual places.
Sheila, Looking forward to details on Mull. What's a service bus? Thanks.

OK. Bowman and MacDougall's (01631 563221) do a Mull & Iona tour; a Mull Iona Staffa and Ulva tour, and a Tobermory tour. Oban and District do day trip on the mainland only (01631 562856. Gordon Grant's (01631 700338) also do a range of boat based trips.

There are lots of other boat trip operators or you can hire your own-Borroboats (01631 563292).

A service bus is the scheduled service.

Somewhere I've got a good web page reference for Mull. I'll find it and post it too.
