Try Galleries Lafayette Maison - First Floor.
The area is called Fou de Toutous- For incredibly chic cat collars, dishes, toys, shampoos, treats, etc. For dog lovers, the same plus leashes in hundreds of sizes. Happy travels - C |
Our cats just love canned food from France, especially rabbit and seafood. Trout was a favorite. It's the sauces! I usually bring back a sampling, but no meats, of course. There are also some nifty chew sticks for cats that are really long treats. Those were a big hit too.

I would recommend the Animalia store at Cour Saint Emilion in the Bercy Village shopping lane. It is as close as Paris has to a pet megastore.

BHV has the Alessi cat food and water bowl (although I think you can get that in the US now):

FYI, for anyone going to France to visit someone who has a cat: take catnip toys and dried catnip. I've never found a place there that sells catnip of any sort.

I remember friends buying little metal signs for sale in Paris that said "Gentil Chat" and Chat Lunatique". They also had them for dogs.

Since my hubby and I actually took the cats with them on our big move to Paris (in cabin, as carry-on luggage!), I will tell you that our cats prefer ... Friskies!! Yes, it's French Friskies, but they won't touch the other stuff. It was sort of disappointing, as I thought they might like rabbit or duck, but I guess they have American palates?!?
As SuQue points out, those cute little metal pet signs are prevalent here, and easy to find in the basement of BHV. They make great gifts for the animal lovers in your world! |
I haven't had a chance to check this place out yet, but perhaps they have cat gifts as well... Since I have three dogs and two cats, I'm sure I'd go broke in this place.
Un Chien dan le Marais 35 bis, rue du Roi de Sicile - 4ième Tel: 01 42 74 30 00 Everything from dog carriers to snacks, the canine couture is the highlight; Denim coats, colorful pullovers and customized collars and leashes. |
We passed a cute shop on the Avenue de l'Opéra that catered to both dogs and cats: toys, bowls, etc. I don't remember the name of it (can ask my BF later if he remembers); it's on the east side of the avenue (right side as you walk towards the opera Garnier), rather closer to the bottom of the avenue and away from the opera... Given the neighborhood, it's probably not inexpensive - but it did look to be chock-a-block full of stuff!
Hmm, maybe the ubiquitous Monoprix would have kitty-appropriate presents?? :D |
