munich day trips
Is there any other bus line besides Gray line to take the day trip to Salzburg from Munich.
It seems Gray Lines schedule does not match mine. I want to go to Salzburg on a Friday or a Sunday. Is this possible? Thanks in advance. |
Trains run to Salzburg about every 20-30 minutes. If you can wait till after 9am the Bavaria Pass (27Euros) is good for roundtrip for up to 5 people. The round trip ticket for earlier is about $40 Euros per person.
Get a guidebook (Rick Steves is good) and read it on the train. Walk to the Altstadt (or take a cab) Visit the castle (take the fanicular) Mozart's birthplace, wander the Altstadt then train back to Munich. It is a small town and easy to enjoy a self guided day tour without sweating the tour-bus day trip. |
If you want a memorable meal go to St Peters Schrift Keller near the Sound of Music graveyard. It has been in operation since about 800ad and they have perfected some pretty good recepies in that time.
