Hi Sinan,
Thanks for your kind invitation to all of us! I’ve noticed the effort that you put in writing to everyone here and in Tipadvicer, you are such a nice and helpful person.. It will be the first time for us in Turkey, we are 2 guys, 30 and 24 going to Istanbul on the 21st July for 5 days then Bodrum for 5 days and Marmaris for only 4 days. We'll be leaving on the 5th Aug. I need an advice where to stay (hostels) where to go and what to see. We like to do everything from clubs to restaurants to site seeing to shopping.. Metting freindly people. Also do we need to fly from Bodrum to Marmaris or we can take a bus or something. It will be nice to get to know you as well. Have a great time on your trip. We can't wait to visit your country. Cheers man |
Well, from my extensive (32-hour layover in Istanbul on the way to India)experience in Turkey,I have to say Sinan is a TYPICAL example of Turkish people and their incredible culture of hospitality.I met some of the nicest and most helpful people.I was amazed. Can't wait to go back.

Hi Peter Kattan(fifth_element)
I will be in Turkey Kusadasi July 11th anytime welcome to my home in Kusadasi. YOU do NOT need to fly to marmaris because only 3 hours drive. I recommend you rent a car and drive your self because there are lots of pleace to see between Bodrum to Marmaris maybe little bit more to FETHIYE. If you have budget you can use dolmus or Bus but you may miss many places between town. You didn't write you budget so I can not give you some advice about HOTEL but there are many restaurants in both towns Marmaris is bigger then Bodrum so if you get hotel close to center you may be OK in Marmaris. If you want to learn some Turkish language go to my forum and register yourself and wait for me approve your membership and then listen Turkish with Sinan. If you have IPod you can carry with you. htt://www.sinanakdeniz.com/forum/ Maybe see you in Turkey Sinan Akdeniz |
Hi Sinan
I've been in a lot of places around the world and so far Turkey has been my very favourite. It was a business trip and I was unable to visit any place outside Istambul. I don't have plans to return there, but if I do, I'll let you know. kind regards Joao |
Hi Sinan,
Thanks a lot for your infos. I don't really have a special bodget but I prefer to not spend lots of money on hotel acommodation and use that in visiting places and buying other stuff. So hostels for us will be ok. You mentioned something about visiting Fathiya, do you think it's important? what's there exactly? I don't know much actually about Turkey, but from what I heard from my Turkesh friends, the recommended Istanbul, Bodrum and Marmaris. So I thought it might be good.. Cheers man |
Hi Peter,
Some time people going to Fethiye for GULET (wooden boat) tour for 4 days. I haven't stay in any hostel so I have no idea either Bodrum nor Marmaris has. BUT I am sure that when you get to Bodrum and Marmaris BUS Station some of the HOTEL representative will invite you to their hotels and show their room. Before going with them ask them their price. Have a nice trip in Turkey Sinan Akdeniz |
Hello Sinan!
You have helped me (and numerous others) before, so thank you so much for all of your generous insight! I am traveling from Greece to Turkey in early September and trying to determine whether to arrive in Kusadasi, Cesme, Bodrum or Marmaris. In what order would be your favorite coastal towns? Also, what is the best way to travel from any these towns to Cappadoccia? I have not found much info on this. Finally, once in Cappadoccia, I have heard it is very difficult to rent an automatic transmission car--is this true? Thanks again and hope you are enjoying Kusadasi--I might take you up on your offer if I end up there! |
Hi SFgo,
If you start in Marmaris which is south-west of Turkey you can drive to North of Marmaris to Bodrum then to Selcuk or Kusadasi then to Izmir for your fly to Cappadocia (Kayseri Airport). Yes rent an automatic transmission car is not easy. If you are looking for I can search for you and let you know here. Ofcourse if you come to Kusadasi WELLCOME to my home. Have a nice trip in Turkey Sinan Akdeniz |
Sinan if you dont mind me intruding your post ;-) regarding automatic geared car rentals:
There are plenty but high season requires an early reservation to get a new and good one. Even in Cappadocia ! Have great time in Kusadasi Murat |
Hello Sinan
I've had a great journey reading about your visit home to Turkey. We were there last year for 10 days, just on the western coast and Pammukale, and it was the best trip ever...all the wonderous sites, great food and very gracious people. I tell all of my friends that this is a trip they should take. We hope to return someday to see other parts of Turkey and to spend more time in Istanbul. Though it is very busy and old-maybe some call it dirty, it is so exciting and colorful. Happy journeys to you and keep promoting your beautiful country. And, oh those delicious melons!!!! |
Thank you for the info Sinan. I may come from Samos to Kusadasi (and hopefully meet and thank you in person) and then stay in Selcuk. I suppose it is not advisable to drive to Cappadoccia? I appreciate your offer on the automatic transmission, but I may opt for a tour possibly or the bus system. Thanks again!

Is this not one of the nicest threads ever? I'm converted - Turkey is now on my list of 'must sees' if only to meet Sinan and nothing else:)
Sinan, you have a very big heart. Thank you for your very lovely words. |
