Marriott Zurich Question
Thinking of staying at the Marriott Downtown Zurich. I need to get to the airport very early. Is it walking distance to the train?
Thanks Pat |
You can always email the hotel and ask them. They can also help you with a shuttle, more than likey.

I went to Tripadvisor.com and found lots of comments about how close the hotel was to various sites. I also clicked on the map and info they have and found this, that gives you distances.
Main station 200 metres Swiss National Museum 250 metres Bahnhofstrasse 1 kilometre Cathedral 1 kilometre Zoo 2.5 kilometres (1.5 miles) Quays 2.5 kilometres (1.5 miles) Dolder Golf Club 5 kilometres (3 miles) |
Thanks so much Sandi, appreciate your help. One km is not a problem.

The Marriott is very walkable to the train station, go out the front door, turn left, walk straight down the street along the little river to the second bridge (there is a busy tram stop on a roundabout on your left here), turn right, cross the street and then the bridge, and the train station is the huge hulking building straight ahead on your same side of this street (you have to cross one more street and the tram lines to get to the entrance doors). Unless you have a lot of heavy luggage, its an easy 10 minute walk, but even with rolling luggage its all flat and sidewalk. You can see the train station from the hotel, its behind the gothic tower of the Landmuseum.
The hotel also participates in a shuttle bus service to the airport, I believe t costs about US$18 per person, this may be slightly faster and easier than the train. The bus takes about 8 minutes. Ask at the hotel about it. The train from the station to the airport is about 12 minutes, but you have to figure in walking time, getting there a bit early to find the track, buying the ticket, etc. so all in you probably need a half hour if going by train. If you want to take a taxi, the fare is about US$45 for the 8 minute ride. (welcome to Switzerland). |
Definitely will save some time with the hotel shuttle... door to door. but do take the public transportation while in zurich. it is fabulous, clean, quiet and always ON TIME.

Didn't see these last few posts until today - thanks so much.
We will easily be able to walk as we just have small rolling luggage for this trip. Can't beat the Priceline rate of $88 per night. Pat |
We have stayed there. The hotel usually offers good value for money - partly because it does not fit into Zürich skyline and architecture.
The distance to main station is about 600m - so walkable. We took the hotel shuttle which departs every 30 min and found that a regulare taxi is less expensive, at least when you share a taxi with two persons. Taxi would certainly be the fastest and most convenient way, but you can also take the train - if you do not mind the way to the station. |
